Supervisor of Operations (Lambertville, NJ)

Job description

·         Optimize day-to-day plant operations including operability and plant process control (SCADA)

·         Manage water production operations, storage and treatment systems including booster pumps, storage tanks, emergency interconnections stations and related facilities, chemical application equipment, water main chlorination and de-chlorination 

·         Supervise workforce to accomplish daily operations and maintenance of treatment / production and distribution facilities (hydrant flushing, valve exercise, preventive maintenance …)

·         Establish the proper chemical dosing and inventory at all facilities (treatment plants, production wells, etc.) supervises personnel in the collection of samples and deciding upon corrective measures

·         Respond to and investigate complaints regarding water quality and system pressure

·         Perform field inspections to ensure water quality conformance to SDWA requirements

·         Recommend solutions to operational and technical problems

·         Adhere to all regulatory requirements (sampling, water quality monitoring and reporting, operator certification, audits, inspections, contracts, meter readings, billing and collections …)

·         Adhere to all corporate requirements (compliance, safety, CODIS, HR …)

·         Supervise the operations of a treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. 

·         Oversee sampling and testing systems, and the functionality of pumps, conveyors, blowers, and other equipment.
Implement and provide technical and safety training to all plant operators 

·         Provide assistance to direct reports in solving work-related problems

·         Develop and work with direct reports in all areas such as employee relations, problem solving, setting and achieving goals, operational processes, scheduling, disciplinary action, terminations, equipment problems, safety training, etc.
Update and implement standard operating procedures and best practices and supervise employees to ensure compliance

·         Conduct safety monitoring of operators at work site

·         Prepare reports as required by SUEZ Water and all regulatory agencies

·         Investigate site for planned projects to determine necessary safety precautions, special tools and equipment, in addition to other special project requirements

·         Working knowledge and understanding of the various regulations, including water and quality, Environmental, H&S, service standards and permit compliance. 

·         Ensure the Lambertville operating location is in compliance with all regulations, service standards and permits at all times. 

·         Supervise the preparation and submission of all relevant operating reports for state regulatory agencies and internal customers (operator reports, Estimated Meter Reads Adjustment Factor, etc.). 

·         Maintain effective relationships with community, state, regulatory, and legislative contacts as well as acting as liaison with customer service. 

·         Partner with the transmission and distribution department (T&D) to oversee all aspects of the assigned NJ areas, as well as the operations planning department. 

·         Manage special projects as assigned. 

·         Support the NJ Division strategy by participating in the development of operational policies and procedures for all water Systems

·         Maintain compliance with all company, governmental and/or environmental regulations and policies to provide safe potable water. 

·         Assist in the training and development of employees. 

·         Manage and monitor key performance indicators (KPI) to ensure operational performance. 

·         Partner with HR to resolve employee and labor relations issues including grievances, negotiations, disciplinary actions, and arbitrations. 

·         Keep current of Federal, State and local health regulations. 

·         Assist with and provide support to managing SCADA operations.
