We currently have an opportunity within SPIE Oil & Gas Services Middle East LLC Qatar for:

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER (STATIC)

This position is a unique opportunity to conduct Mechanical Engineering (Static) activities for projects, from initial concept definition phase through engineering studies, FEED, detailed design and commissioning.

Your main duties will be:

• Create, develop and review work-scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure that the work-scopes are comprehensive and clear.
• Ensure that the required engineering standards and QP technical assurance practices are followed whilst conducting Mechanical Engineering (Static) activities. Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards and practices.
• Carry out in-house site surveys, engineering / design.
• Review and approve method statements created by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues.
• Produce, review, check and approve in-house designs and specifications.
• Co-ordinate designs, specifications and work-scopes created by multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Develop, update and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities.
• Plan and co-ordinate activities of a team of multidiscipline engineers for providing timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements.
• Ensure that the requirements of environmental and safety policies are incorporated into designs and work-scopes.
• Review, evaluate and approve/reject Contract Changes / Variations.
• Conduct evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance.
• Support Assistant Manager to review, update and apply QP standards and QPs amendment to external standards.
• Support the development of personal technical competency and skills and those of Co-workers. Participate in structured training for Qatari Engineers under development.

• Review and approve technical deliverables with respect to quality, safety to the required standards.
• Responsible for design, drawing and engineering documents in his discipline area.
• Determine whether technical deliverables produced by external organisations comply with the required scope and applicable standards.
• Make recommendations for approval or rejection of technical deviations.
• Make recommendations for approving change requests.


Ideally, you should have Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Chartered Engineer status or membership with another Professional Institution is preferred.

You should have minimum of 10 years relevant post graduate experience should be related to the Oil & Gas industry. Ability to identify and utilise relevant engineering standards and Codes related to Mechanical Engineering (Static). Proven ability to manage time, cost and quality in engineering projects within a multiple project environment.

Shall possess sound knowledge in piping/mechanical detailed design, engineering and layout of on-shore oil and gas downstream installations and shall have adequate exposure to Pre- commissioning / Commissioning / Start-up /Testing /Operation/Trouble shooting. Experience in the execution of CO2 projects will be an added advantage.

You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as, an advance level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office. You will need excellent communication and presentation skills in both written and verbal English.
