Job Overview and Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a Shift Supervisor for our manufacturing site in Orange, Texas.  The incumbent will be responsible for the following.

Responsibilities:
•Provide day-to-day direction in the operation of all production and production support units within the Operations Department.  
•Provide for safety of workers and protect the quality of local environment.  
•Responsible for the production of a high quality product at optimum rates and minimum costs.  
•Site management representative during off hours, weekends and holidays.
•Provide leadership to ensure a safe, clean work environment.
•Plan, schedule, set priorities, and supervise assigned work force to achieve department objectives in productivity, quality, cost reduction, resource efficiency, off-grade reduction spill prevention and containment, etc.
•Communicate employee concerns and operating developments accurately and promptly to management, and communicate and support management programs and policies to employees.
•Directly involved with troubleshooting systems and assists technicians in their duties when required.
•Manage all product labeling and movement to and from Warehouse.
•Provide on-the job training of other employees in order to provide coverage in the event of an absence.
•Will perform incident command duties in emergencies.  Will be the incident commander until properly relieved.
•Will also be called upon to perform emergency response activities using a self-contained breathing apparatus.  The frequency of use in this manner is estimated to be approximately two times per year in training and less than once in five                years for an actual emergency.
•Maintain current training status in the following:  Safety, Environmental, ISO 9000, Process Safety Management; and Process Overview Training, Basic Operator Training, Process Specific Training, and Job Specific Training courses.
•Other duties may be assigned

Education and Experience:

Basic Qualifications:
•High school graduate or equivalent
•A thorough understanding of each technician position, each standard procedure, and the various plant contingency plans as well as familiarity with process structures and equipment is required. 
•Five or more years’ experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Associate degree in process technology. 
•Ten years’ experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Skills:

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities:
•Ability to prioritize work.
•Good oral and written communication
•Good computer skills – Microsoft Office, distributive control systems, SAP, electronic documentation and electronic training delivery systems.
•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
•Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
•Ability to use:  Forklift, drill and attachment, scale, computer, vacuum, buffer.
•       Ability to work a rotating shift
