Job Overview and Responsibilities:

1. Attends daily meeting to receive and discuss daily work orders.  Orders include removing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment in the field.

2. Communicates with unit operations to ensure work site has been prepared and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.Follows lockout-tag out procedures, checking for documentation of entry permit, and checks to make sure lines are closed and locked.

3. Dismantles the failed equipment (motors, pumps) using hand and power tools such as hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc. Transports it to the shop using hoist, lift trucks, dollies, and rollers.

4. Assess the failed equipment, orders replacement parts using JD Edwards computer program, and assembles the equipment with the new parts.

5. Re-installs the machinery after prepping the supporting surface.Bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens machinery to the foundation.Lubricates bolts with Never Seize.

6. Aligns machines and equipment, using micrometers and plumb bobs.Performs checks for leaks and ensures equipment is operating efficiently.

7. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per job task specification or specified plant location.
May be required to perform other duties/projects as specified by supervisor and parameters are indicative to average requirements that are not inclusive based on change in operational, safety or environmental factors.

Education and Experience:

To be successful and effective in position:  

·  2-3 years in millwright
·  One year certificate (millwright, machinist, or relative)  from a college or technical school
OR

·  An equivalent combination of education and experience
AND

·  Transportation Worker’s Identification Credentials (TWIC)

Skills:

1.Applies principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  

2.Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule format.

3.Able to calculate variables and formulas; monomials and polynomials; ratio and proportion variables; and square roots and radicals.

4.Able to calculate plane and solid figures, circumference, area, and volume.  Understands kinds of angles, and properties of pairs and angles.

5.Reads safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawings and layout work.

6.Writes reports and essays with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, and using all parts of speech.

7.Able to speak before an audience with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English and a well-modulated voice.
