Job Overview and Responsibilities:

·  Comply with HSE regulations and company policies
·  Maintain a safe working environment and ensure team compliance with Solvay Life Saving Rules, use of PPE, HSE rules, regulations and policies
·  Operatormonitors field equipment (by inspection & instrumentation), adjusts, and troubleshoots equipment as needed. Prepares equipment for maintenance as needed. Starts & stops compressors, blowers, pumps, etc. Turns valves and adjusts controls associated with various piping, vessels, and other equipment. 
·  Must take corrective and preventive actions to keep the chemical processes within acceptable control guidelines. Must recognize abnormal conditions while performing daily routine tasks. 

·  Maintains written record of field instrumentation readings, written log of process changes, equipment malfunctions, and safety issues.

·  Collects process samples, runs lab analyses on process samples, assesses need for process changes based on analytical results, and documents results & actions.
·  Must frequently climb ladders and stairs to access all necessary aspects of process equipment with may require the use of a safety harness. 
·  May be required to train and serve on site Fire Crew / Emergency Team. 

·  May be required to serve as a member of special teams (quality, safety committee, training, environment, etc.). 
·  The employee may be required to work a rotating shift schedule, alternating between “Days” and “Nights” on a frequent basis. This schedule also requires being available for overtime during certain periods (either scheduled overtime, or being on call in case unscheduled overtime is required), working weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience:

·Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

·Two or more Industrial experience required (industrial experience as an operator in a chemical plant, refinery, or gas processing facility.) 

.  Successful completion of the two (2) year Associates Degree in Process Technology or Certificate, Operations preferred

Skills:

•Ability to work effectively with relevant computer software such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, SAP, eB director, Aspen Process Explorer

•In depth knowledge packaging material and their characteristics relevant for the company’s products and of their characteristics including regulation and necessary documentation.

•Ability to understand operation fundamentals such as: pipe configurations, valve line ups, operation of a pump, etc. 

•Understand product specifications and the effects of cross contamination of products

•Obtain and maintain all specified job qualifications which may include both operations and the finished goods area

•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Physical/Mental Requirements:

·While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long period of time; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (sometimes for extended periods of time); talk or hear; and taste or smell

·  Must be able to walk at least 1 mile in 25 minutes or less

·Must be able to ascend and descend railcars, able to pull-up own weight, as initial step up may be 30 inches

·Must be able to climb stairs and ladders with wide variances in step length, ascending as much as 120 feet within 20 minutes, under exterior weather conditions.May be required to perform this task several times during a day

·The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.Must be able to push/pull up to 80 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

·Must be able to perform work tasks while utilizing respirator, chemical suit and other appropriate PPE.Must be able to climb a straight caged ladder at least 20 feet high in full PPE.

·Must be able to lift and carry dry chemical extinguishers at least 100 feet (the actual weight of the extinguishers is approximately 57 lbs)

·Must be able to open/close up to a 4 inch valve at least shoulder height

·Must be able to walk and work on un-even surfaces, maintaining balance

·Must be able to couple multiple hoses together

·Employee must be able to turn neck to view what’s behind them (i.e. driving a forklift and/or railking)

·  Near acute vision allowing an individual to read normal size type within 20 inches with or without corrective lenses.  Additionally, the ability to identify and distinguish color

·  Must be able to use respiratory protective equipment in examination of equipment or process

·  Constant, concise and accurate use of the English language when communicating orally and in writing

·  Perform under stress when confronted with emergency or critical deadlines in which working speed and accuracy, along with sustained attention, are critical to success

·  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists 

·  Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once and perform all aspects of the job/work in anautonomous manner
·  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

·  Work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule that could involve days and nights.This schedule also requires being available for overtime during certain periods (either scheduled overtime, or being on call in case unscheduled overtime is required), working weekends, and holidays.

·While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently: exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; working around moving mechanical parts; working in high, precarious places; working in environments that could contain fumes, airborne particles, acids, bases, highly hazardous chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.The noise level in the work environment can exceed 85 decibels.
