Position Overview:

Technical Writer for the technical publications Carborne Engineering organization in the domain of embedded systems for signaling. You will be responsible for development and maintenance of technical documentation for new and existing products. Put your analytical skills to work as you develop and detail safety critical software, communication systems and user interfaces! In our department, we cover all aspects of documentation and training material design, review, configuration control and release processes - we'd love to have you join our team!

This Role will include the following responsibilities:

·  Independently writes and edits complex technical documentation, including user manuals, job aids, installation instructions, technical instructions/bulletins, and other technical publications from document plans and style guides.
·  Develops on-line help screens for company products.
·  Researches technical and engineering information, including drawings, design and test specifications, product prototypes, and interviews with domain experts.
·  Completes all phases of document development cycle, including project scope and requirements, documentation design, etc.
·  May develop, recommend and implement technical documentation process and policy changes.
·  Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to take care of most situations.
·  Provide general mentorship or train support and/or professional staff.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

·  BS/BA in related discipline - Engineering preferred
·  Ability to successfully apply complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of technical writing.
·  Demonstrates knowledge of an organization's business practices and issues.
·  6+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

·  Technical knowledge of signaling, operations concepts in rail industry, rail products
·  Experience with Embedded Control Systems design & development
·  Experience with Safety critical/Vital systems (knowledge of standards, process and methods for safety critical hardware)
·  Quality assurance, testing, test automation, verification, validation
·  System/ Software architecture
