Position Overview :

Below is a brief description of TFA roles, responsibilities divided by activities. Please note, that this list is expounding on the contract definition of a TFA, and represents the more important aspects of a successful TFA. I have also attached the assembly checklists, with important steps highlighted. The TFA should be present for the first 10 assemblies to verify that these activities are being performed correctly by the contractor.Upon noticing significant crew turnover, either by Siemens, the BOP, or the Client, a supplemental page turn will be performed for the affected crew and a review of the effected assembly on no fewer than 3 of the assembly unit involved.

Experience with fiberglass repair and restoration PREFERRED!

Contractual Description of a TFA :

An Engineer/technician providing TFA renders technical advice and guidance and makes recommendations at the Project Site based on Siemens' procedures and drawings during erection and installation of Wind Turbine Generators

Basic Core Competencies and Responsibilities

1.Knowledge of basic electrical troubleshooting

2.Ability to maintain professional relationships with both client and BOP.

3.Daily log taking.

4.Intimate knowledge of Siemens specialty equipment:

a.Blade Yoke

b.Blade Clamper

c.Cabling Equipment

d.Specialty Rigging

e.Blade Belts/Socks

f.Temporary Installation Equipment

i.Crane

ii.Turning Gear

iii.Manual Yaw

iv.Turbine Brakes

5.Ability to operate independently in remote locations, without direct supervision.

Offloading at site

1.Assist QA in performing receiving inspections.

2.Organize and deliver BOLs (bills of lading) to the Site Manager

3.Assist in coordinating deliveries to specific pads.

4.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

5.TFA should be present for first ‘critical lifts' for all components.

Foundation

1.Ensure that the foundation is suitable for placement of tower

a.Shims are correctly placed.

b.Holes for conduit/cables are in correct location.

c.Foundation bolts are properly installed and treated.

2.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

Setting of Power Unit

1.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

2.Ensure that the power unit is mounted, placed, and sealed correctly.

Erection

1.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

2.TFA should be present for first ‘critical lifts' for all components.

3.Troubleshoot 110Vac lights/outlets as necessary.

4.Ensure all Siemens provided equipment is functioning properly (i.e. 690Vac generator).

Mounting of Nacelle on Tower

1.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

2.TFA should be present for first ‘critical lifts' for all components.

3.Troubleshoot 110Vac lights/outlets as necessary.

4.Ensure that all temporary turbine systems are operating correctly.

a.Should be performed during nacelle preparation to identify and correct problems in a timely manner.

Rotor Assembly

1.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

2.TFA should be present for first ‘critical lifts' for all components.

3.Ensure all Siemens provided equipment is functioning properly.

a.Pitch Pump

b.Pitch Box

c.690Vac generator (if Siemens supplied)

d.Blade Yoke

4.Ensure blade tensioning is being performed correctly (in conjunction with QA rotor inspections).

Mounting of Rotor

1.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

2.TFA should be present for first ‘critical lifts' for all components.

3.Troubleshoot 110Vac lights/outlets as necessary.

4.Ensure that all temporary turbine systems are operating correctly.

Cabling

1.Ensure that all activities are in accordance with Siemens instructions and drawings.

2.Troubleshoot 110Vac lights/outlets as necessary.

3.Ensure that all temporary turbine systems are operating correctly.

4.Ensure that crews have the appropriate electrical documentation, and know how to interpret them.
