The Mechanical Product Engineer is part of the dedicated Point of Care (POC) Sustaining Engineering (SEN) R&D team.SEN is responsible for coordinating sustaining activities for all POC in vitro diagnostics (IVD) instruments, consumables and accompanying eco-system products. The successful candidate will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality and Service to coordinate platform enhancements, implement cost reduction projects, drive corrective actions in response to field issues, respond to new regulatory requirements and mitigate manufacturing supply risk and manufacturing quality issues for our blood gas and urinalysis product lines.
Your mission and responsibilities:
Develop precision electro-mechanical assemblies that meet or exceed design requirements
Support supplier change and retooling efforts by ensuring the robustness of legacy design documentation
Identify the root cause(s) of anomalies utilizing structure problem solving methodologies
Collaborate on cross-functional teams to identify technical and business risks associated with design and process changes
Perform engineering analysis and establish test plans to demonstrate product designs meet performance and safety requirements
Schedule and lead cross-functional meetings to coordinate planning and execution of design change projects from concept to Manufacturing implementation

Your qualifications and experience:
B.Eng or M.Eng in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Considerable work experience in a product development or sustaining engineering role required
Significant work experience in the medical device industry or other regulated industry preferred
Your personality and skills:
Ability to operate and communicate within a cross-functional team composed of technical and non-technical members across the globe
Understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is a must
Proficiency with leading MCAD software tools is a must, SolidWorks strongly preferred
Exhibit a bias toward action, balanced by strong analytical decision-making skills
Experience with precision drive mechanisms, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, sensor technologies, electronics packaging, and injection molding part design is highly desirable
Working knowledge of product safety requirements (UL, IEC, ISO, FDA), FEA/simulation tools, agile methodologies and statistical techniques is a plus
