Position Overview

Are you ready to expand your knowledge and push your manufacturing skills further? Would you like to do so with a leader in analytical process gas chromatography? Siemens Industry, Inc's Process Instruments and Analytics Business Unit has an immediate openingfor a process gas chromatograph (GC) analytical column builder.This position is manufacturing based located in Houston, TX.

In this role, the successful candidate will manufacture and assemble packed/micropacked gas chromatographic columns as part of fulfilling Production and Customer Service orders to meet customer requirements. This process comprises in part the preparation of specially ground materials, filling tubing of various lengths and diameters with the material, terminating and coiling the tubing. The column is subsequently baked off in special ovens and quality checked.

The appointee will support the maintenance and enhancement of the work processes as part of their daily activity, must be comfortable being in a team environment but able to operate independently as well as be detail oriented. Experience in laboratory safety and handling chemicals is highly desirable as work with some limited variety of chemicals is required.

The candidate will interact with process GC method development chemists, GC final test technicians and Spare Parts personnel on a routine basis. May also provide non-laboratory administrative support to other groups on an as-needed basis.

·  fill tubing with packing materials per work orders
·  ensure on-time deliveries of orders
·  quality test of completed materials
·  manage disposal of chemical wastes
·  drive standardization of work processes through Lean methodologies
·  comply with applicable internal procedures/ISO processes

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

·  High School Graduate
·  Firm understanding of fundamental math skills
·  Strong mechanical skills
·  Detail and Technically Oriented
·  Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
·  Effective communication skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

·  Basic understanding of gas chromatographic principles
·  Prior knowledge of Lean practices
·  Prior experience performing assembly work in a manufacturing facility
·  Familiarity with SAP
·  One semester of High School chemistry
·  Familiarity with gas chromatography and lab equipment
