Project Description:

ETCS L2 + IL

The business unit “Rail Automation” / MMFis part of the division Mobility within the Siemens Organization. This unit offers products, systems and solution for different signaling projects in Belgium, especially for the Belgium Railway.

In this context the business unitMMF has won a frame contract for the replacements of the old Relays-based interlocking by new electronic interlocking systems and the implementation of ETCS L2, a highly safe and performing European safety system. Next to the Interlocking and the implementation of ETCS L2, also trackside equipment (signals, track vacancy detection), high automated data preparation tools, test tools, global Maintenance System (GMS) are part of this 12 year frame contract. The Siemens Belgium organization, with the support of Headquarters formed a consortium with Covely Fabricom and is ready to support Infrabel in achieving their future challenges and execute this important project.

The project consists of development phase followed by a roll out phase.

Your new role – challenging and future-oriented

As ETCS Design and data prep engineer your main technical responsibility will be to successfully lead ETCS Design and data preparation teams and ensure the realization of ETCS L2 technical subsystem. You should be an expert in ETCS sub system analysis, definition and implementation of an ETCS products, engineering, architectures, interfaces, subsystem or system related concepts for MO MM projects. Ensures the communication and supports the interfaces between the Project Management, the ETCS susb-system resposibel, R&D, Product Line Management, , technical interface partners and the Customer.

You are responsible for:

Technical Responsibility

· Analysis, Review and evaluation of all ETCS Design and data subsystem related requirements for ETCS
· Engineer ETCS Sub-System Requirements specifications
· Produce design plan, data engineering setup
· Technical ETCS sub system documentation (design, data files, interfaces, concept, etc.)
· Reviews of ETCS sub system related documents (Configuration Plan of Central Post, Schematic Cable Distribution Plan, Power supply distribution, Room Layout, etc)
· Subsystem-URS for the subsystem (if applicable) as basis for R&D work and procurement
· Engineer the ETCS Sub-system (or lead external engineer teams ), as well as data test
· Assisting in manufacturing process and ordering
· Work with the ETCS integration and test team
· Support the system site integration and commissioning work
· Support the validation and approval work

Reporting and controlling

· Technical execution of the relevant ETCS work packages based on project schedule
· Executes the plan with regard to functional, technical and time-related goals, also checks the quality of process and results
· Recognizes deviations in his/her work packages early, identifies causes of problems and resolves them (in coordination with the ETCS Responsible, if necessary)
· Coordination within ETCS test team and other subsystem interfaces

Interface, partner and risk management

· Interoperability Management

· Involves R&D, internal and external subsystem suppliers and interface partners timely.
· In case of shortcomings escalates regarding quality, deadline shifts and collaboration problems with respect to the given timeline.

Improvements :

· Drives ideas and activities as part of the project related tasks with the goal to improve the project results
· Uses any possibility to improve the MM products and systems as well as the system standardization and system related processes.

Communication

· Ensure there is regular and seamless communication with customer, consortium partners and the internal project team, suppliers and any other stakeholder.
· Participate in core program meetings, customer meetings, with consortium partners. Able to think, anticipate and streamline the discussions during the meetings,

Your qualifications – solid and appropriate

Required Technical Skill :

· ETCS L1/ L2 knowledge
· Railway signaling
· Interface management and coordination
· Sub Systems Engineering
· Process Rules and Standards (CENELEC, EN, Siemens Engineering rules, etc)
· Requirements Engineering, Quality Management, Configuration management, Documentation management
· System documentation, interface management and system integration
· Experience in Design, Engineering, Installation, Integration, Testing and Commissioning

Required Soft Skill:

· Expertise in Tools (MS-Office, AutoCAD, SAP, technical specific engineering tools, etc.)
· Extensive experience dealing with engineering teams, customer and suppliers

Education Level :

· Master / Bachelor.

Language

· Good written and verbal communication in Dutch, English and French languages.
· Knowledge of German language is a plus.

Experience:

· Minimum 3 years of experience in Subsystem Engineering for ETCS implementation in similar railway contracts
· Has work and life experience abroad (e.g. within the scope of several business trips).
· Has already worked in international teams
