About the division:
Smart Building System (SBS) is an innovative and fast-growing Program part of Connected Buildings Line of Business and Digital Energy Division. It was created following the acquisition of Viconics and Can2Go between 2011-2013. The program has a global scope and focuses on Room Control across all building segments as well as specific solutions for Hotel and Retail segments.

W hat do you get to do in this position?

As a system architect and part of the multidisciplinary organization at Schneider Electric in Montreal the candidate is responsible for all aspects of HVAC systems architecture roadmaps and control solutions design and integration. She/he is also directly involved with concerned teams such as the Offer Management team and technical support in developing new or evolving existing offers.

Working closely with the product owners, software architects, hardware architects, system specialists, technical writers and offer managers, the main duties will consist but not limited to the following:

· Act as the HVAC and controls subject matter expert (FCU, PTAC, HP, RTU, VAV, VVT, VRF…) for the R&D team
· Own the HVAC applications system architecture diagrams used by the R&D team to develop the solution
· Own and provide to R&D the system specifications
· Provide technical training to internal teams and partners support centers

Frequently, the role might include to

· Actively collaborate, impulse leadership and right mindset with the dev team in all architecture discussions
· Convert offer management needs into development technical specifications and requirements.
· Maintain the requirements up to date and according to industry standards
· Keep track of industry trends and standards and regularly educate the design teams about them
· Stay well informed of current and emerging technologies to recommend evolution pathways to lead the industry (or dominate the world ;) )
· Collaborate to HMI and UX creation according to customers' expectations.
· Reach out and learn from other industries, innovative and advanced technologies that would help improve our solutions.
· Own the compatibility matrix of the SE solution offerings provided to external system integrators and customers.
· Document system and product limits (capabilities, compatibility, performance, …).
· As an SME, contribute to the technical documentation content creation then review and validate the final technical documentations.
· Design prototype products such as sketches, models, an early user guide, and prototypes help with alignment between OD, OM and Customers.
· Provide technical leadership for prototype development, proof-of-concepts and pilot projects for evaluating new technological approaches.
· Provide regular HVAC training for internal staff and offer managers to improve understanding and awareness of building systems.
· Review and validate customer training material.
· Mentor solution architects to use SE products to develop world class winning functional and technical solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements.
· Challenge the design teams to come up with simple, reliable and cost-effective solutions.
· Provide guidance to the design team how to properly solve technical problems and overcome solutions challenges according to industry standards and customer expectations.
· Help provide reviews and validation of the system test plan and definitions of the system acceptance criteria.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

T his job might be for you if you are/have:

·  Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent.
·  In similar role of equivalent demonstrated experience.
·  Solid experience in HVAC and building automation;
·  Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills (English and French).
·  Strong documentation skills of robust HVAC and control system logic using standard diagrams.

Preferred skills:

·  Leadership and ownership;
·  Results oriented, achiever with good planning and organizational skills;
·  Positive attitude;
·  Ability of dealing efficiently with pressure and unforeseen constraints
·  Dependable, responsible and committed to success;

Assets and nice to have:

·  Comfortable with agile methodologies;
·  Experience with VMware or VirtualBox;
·  Experience in HVAC and building automation;
·  Experience with Testlink, Atlassian Jira, Stash, Bamboo
·  Comfortable using lab tools such as (Scope, Multimeter, Digital analyzers…) for testing and analysis;
