The Residential Controls business within the Schneider Electric group is a global provider of devices used to control heating, hot water, humidity and cooling in domestic and small commercial installations and is expanding into the world of Smart Products. The business is investing heavily in new product design, market expansion and further development of existing markets. In particular, it is creating an exciting new range of Internet and cloud-connected Smart Home products to exploit the opportunities provided by the rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Most of the product range is manufactured at facilities in Plymouth, UK under the Drayton brand and in Nuremberg, Germany as Eberle Controls.

Location – Ideally in Plymouth but if you don't live in Plymouth you need to be available to travel to Plymouth when requested, no more than 20% of the time travelling. You will be working most of the time remotely.

Your mission:

As a PCB Design Engineer & eCAD Librarian, you will work on multiple board designs for residential heating control devices and own the eCAD Library. You will be an integral part of the Electronics Design Engineering Team and will collaborate with Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Procurement throughout the entire product development life-cycle. Working closely with design engineers and board assembly vendors, you will deliver high-quality board designs to timescales and cost.

Your main responsibilities:

Perform all PCB design activities — schematic entry, component placement, and signal routing

·
Create and maintain eCAD libraries — parts, schematic symbols, footprints, 3D models, datasheets, RoHS/REACH certificates

·
Set up and maintain Design Rule Checks

·
Generate manufacturing packs for PCB and PCBA for fast prototyping and volume manufacture

·
Conduct board layout analysis and provide inputs for design feasibility studies

·
Liaise with mechanical team to ensure PCB compatibility with enclosure design

·
Collaborate with board fabricators and assembly vendors to apply appropriate DFM/DFT guidelines and resolve manufacture-related issues

·
Work closely with procurement to facilitate multi-sourcing of components and lower-cost alternatives

About you:

·
Technical degree in electronics or equivalent industry experience

·
Understanding of PCB technologies, fabrication & assembly processes, and industry standards

·
Experience with Pulsonix / Mentor Graphics / other eCAD tools

·
Experience in laying out high-speed, high-density, impedance-controlled, multi-layer PCBs

·
Knowledge of signal integrity and EMI control

·
Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools — Word, Excel

·
