ASCO Power Technologies, an industry leader in the manufacturing of Automatic Transfer Switches, Industrial Control Products, Load Banks, Power Control Systems, Services and Solutions, has an exciting career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer based out of Cleveland, Ohio .

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing and designing the mechanical portion of electrical test equipment based customer specifications and requirements. The role will develop standard and custom products based on standard component selection using approved design processes while participating in continuous product improvements and cost reductions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Plans, manages, and coordinates the engineering design work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out the complex design of loads for testing back up power systems.

2. Assists Sales to prepare technical proposals and pricing on engineered orders. Supports sales in making sales calls and customer contacts.

3. Interprets customer supplied specifications, drawings and one-line diagrams for quotation and cost estimate purposes.

4. Provide engineering project management including new product development.

5. Designs and develops the best cost/performance product that meets or exceeds customer requirements.

6. Provide on time complete and accurate design package to the drafting department.

7. Works with the drafting department to create a detailed design package consisting of enclosures, sheet metal, mechanical assemblies and bills of material.

8. Works with cross functional team to conduct feasibility study, generate specifications, and schedule standard product line development programs through engineering.

9. Complete seismic, wind and vibration calculations to support equipment design to IBC and specific customer requirements.

10. Understanding of air flow, thermodynamics and sound level dynamics including measurement and instrumentation.

11. Produces modern, reliable, and cost-effective designs.

12. Generates any test procedures and technical manuals required with the product.

13. Supports the Field Service department in the installation and trouble-shooting of load banks in the field.

14. Supports the maintenance of documentation via engineering change procedures.

15. Prepares engineering submittals for filing product with UL and CSA agencies to obtain approvals.

16. Directs third party product certification and testing where required.

17. Acts as a liaison to third party certifiers.

18. Responds to sales and engineering inquiries relative to the regulatory environment.

19. Responds to inspectors' questions in manufacturing plants and handles any variations.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Solid organizational and interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
·  Excellent writing and presentation skills
·  ACAD/3D modeling software
·  Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a plus

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· MSME

· 5-7 years of mechanical engineering design experience

· 2-3 years of experience using mechanical design software packages

· Project management skills and experience

COMPETENCIES

· Must be “hands-on” with strong trouble-shooting skills

· Must have strong communication and presentation skills

COMPUTER SKILLS

·  Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
