What do you get to do in this position?

The overall goal of the position is to ensure and promote a safe and healthy working environment for site personnel and for the site itself; to reduce and eliminate OSHA recordable incidents; and to ensure Environmental compliance requirements are satisfied. Job position works under the general direction and supervision of the Schneider Electric Costa Mesa Facility EH&S Manager. The EH&S Intern is responsible in assisting in the coordinating, tracking and implementation of the various Schneider Electric Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs for all personnel located at the Schneider Electric (SE) Costa Mesa Facility (CMF) site. Will be exposed to and expected to support ISO 14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety) Management Systems. Responsibilities will include:

· Participate in efforts to support our EH&S Management Systems.
· Assist with various EH&S projects including auditing current process; participating in compliance audits; reporting; hosting or assisting in EH&S meetings/events; inspections; assuring continuous improvements though Schneider Performance System (SPS); ergonomics; Contractor Pre-Qualification Process; Incident and Accident Reporting; conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as part of the incident investigation process; assist in the planning, coordination and documentation for safety drills.
· Project Management Responsibilities and Tasks
· Manage the implementation and verification of corporate Safety Standard requirements (Biometric Entry requirements for the Test Bays and R&D Labs) for the CMF site.
· Manage the implementation and verification of corporate Safety Standards (7 discrete EH&S requirements) for the CMF site.
· Manage the bi-annual GRC external site fire-prevention compliance audit and ensure that identified enhancements are implemented.
· Manage the verification of the Contractor Pre-Qualification Process and documentation.
· Other duties may be assigned. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.

Qualifications :

This job might be for you if:

·  Current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering or Engineering degree
·  Able to work Fall 2018, and possibly Summer 2018 if available
·  Ability to coordinate and multi-task
·  Excellent communicator, both orally and in writing
·  Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
·  Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted within the course of work
·  Ability to define problems and solve problems.
·  Able to manage numerous projects at one time
·  Excellent computer/typing skills (MS Office)
