PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Within the BI&AS organization, the Enterprise Analytics team assumes SAP-wide ownership for management reporting/planning and in this context drives SAP's Business Intelligence strategy, promotes the actual usage of BI solutions in tight collaboration with the business BI-, development- and IT teams. The Enterprise Analytics team is an execution-focused organization collaboratively working cross functions to ensure the adoption of best practices and enabling a scalable, world class analytics foundation fully leveraging technology innovations to provide global transparency out of one single source of truth reporting system. In addition, the Enterprise Analytics function delivers pre-defined services with a clear customer focus on the best leverage of economies of scale.

Within Enterprise Analytics the team “Exponential Analytics” handles all advanced analytics and machine learning topics. From operationalizing for example the prediction of customer churn over identifying security and coding patterns in log files to complex research cases with company-wide data and ad-hoc data deep dives, we certainly never get bored. The team, being committed to fast, yet re-usable and top-quality solutions, is growing rapidly both in Paris and Walldorf. EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As a data scientist you're expected to be fluent in all relevant statistical and mathematical concepts as well as being able to implement and use those in real life. There are not confinements as to how you get to the goal as long as the solution is what delivers true value to your colleagues and customers in a scalable and re-usable way.

The tasks of the position include:

·  Working closely with business stakeholders to fully understand the business requirements and opportunities, to nail it down into specific business objectives/success criteria and data science goals and analytic framework, and assess feasibility and benefits.
·  Engage in a structured way with Data Engineers and Information Owners to master the data structures necessary for the projects, and contribute to design optimal solution to produce a sustainable data foundation to achieve the project goals
·  Leverage best practices data science methods to explore the data and to prepare data structure for the modeling phase
·  Experiment and evaluate efficiently with a wide range of predictive and Machine Learning techniques and algorithms to meet the business and technical objectives
·  Collaborate with Solutions Owners, Data Engineers and Developers to deploy the model within the context of the business process, so that it can easily be consumed by the business. Drive discussion with stakeholders to make sure that the implemented solutions allow business understanding of the model outcome, as well as traceable data-driven actions.
·  Contribute to design and implementation of a sustainable framework to monitor and keep the Company models accurate, and to measure tangible business benefits of the implemented solutions
·  Being creative, industrious and pragmatic in what you do to get it done and being able to communicate those results (i.e. interpretable machine learning)

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

REQUIRED

·  Strong knowledge of advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to solve business problems
·  Hands-on experience of data processing and data modeling techniques (SQL, procedure), ideally on HANA (e.g. Calculation Views)
·  Hands-on experience using statistical programming/data mining software
·  Implementation experience of machine learning automation and performance measuring
·  Knowledge of SAP HANA PAL algorithms would be a real plus
·  Good practical knowledge of R and/or python

·  Strong business acumen, preferably in the Software and Cloud provider industry
·  Experience in working in dynamic cross functional environments
·  Ability to work under pressure and to cope with deadlines
·  Good presentation and communication skills to convey sophisticated predictive and machine learning concepts in a way which can be understood by projects stakeholders
·  Fully fluent in English (written and verbal)
