(Senior) Associate Scientist - Discovery - Lead Characterisation FPU

About the opportunity

To strengthen our Functional Profiling Unit within the Lead Characterisation group (Discovery department), we are looking for a qualified (Senior) Associate Scientist with experience in (immune) cell biology.
You will be involved in the development and performance of (primary) cell-based assays for the understanding of the function of the therapeutic Nanobody® lead drug candidates. These activities will support the Nanobody Discovery campaigns in different therapeutic areas (e.g. immuno-oncology, immunology, inflammation, etc.).

Your job will include one or more of the following technical responsibilities:
•    You use mammalian (primary) cell culture technologies for various applications including cell line generation, maintenance and quality control of cell lines (expression of target antigen, …), primary cell isolation.
•    You perform (primary) cell-based assays (e.g. MLR, Immune cell activation/suppression, Immune cell differentiation).
•    You use various readout technologies such as: Luminex, multicolour Flow Cytometry, ELISA, MSD, HTRF, Radioactivity, Real-time (xCELLigence, IncuCyte).

Generic responsibilities:
•    You will be involved in data analysis and prepare written reports of your results.
•    You will communicate results and observations to the team.
•    You will actively contribute to project-oriented teams.
•    You will take up equipment, lab, and/or stock responsibilities.

About you
 

Qualifications/education & work experience:
•    Degree of Bachelor (5+ years of experience)/Master (3+ years of experience) in Biotechnology/Biomedical sciences or equivalent.
•    Experience with primary cell-based assays is a requirement.
•    Experience in two or more of the fore-mentioned technical responsibilities is an asset.
•    Experience in setting up multicolour flow cytometry panels is a plus.

•    Full time position.

The CV of the applicant needs to be in English and should include a paragraph specifying the technical expertise.
A temporary contract (12 months) will be offered, with a possibility to extend or convert into a permanent contract.
