Job description

Job Description

927 million. That’s how many lives our products touched in 2017. 200 projects currently in clinical development. 16 major approvals last year alone. These are achievements we’re incredibly proud of, but in this world of digital and technological transformation, we must also ask ourselves this: how can we continue to improve and extend even more people’s lives?
The Retina Franchise is looking for highly energized, passionate talent to join what we anticipate will be one of the most impactful launches in the Novartis ophthalmology portfolio.
Do you want to be part of building and launching a brand from scratch in a dynamic retina marketplace? How about bringing a brand to market with the potential to impact millions of patients every year?

Your Responsibilities:
The Retina Account Specialist (RAS) owns the relationship with the largest retina customer accounts and is the primary sales role to drive performance of retina products by engaging customers at all levels within the assigned accounts. The RAS works with HCP’s, staff and C-Suite stakeholders to provide key account management to all levels of the account. The RAS is responsible for implementing retina sales strategies, engaging customers and developing relationships within an assigned customer account base.

The RAS will conduct total office calls including providing samples, copay materials for eligible patients, educational and promotional resources and appropriate support for marketing channel campaigns while adhering to all Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation (NPC) compliance and legal standards. The RAS will execute these activities in their assigned account groups through engagements with appropriate Health Care Providers (HCP’s) and office staff personnel. This is accomplished by development, coordination and implementation of a strategic business plan for targeted accounts.

This individual will be responsible for gaining a thorough understanding of the account, the decision-making process, key decision-makers and influencers. He/she must have a deep understanding of specific customer needs and identify key business opportunities. This individual will gain access to key people within the accounts to identify opportunities for appropriate product utilization with appropriate patients.

• Serves as an expert on the on-label clinical data and information for the assigned product portfolio.
• Builds and develops professional relationships with C-suite stakeholders.
• Utilizes expertise and knowledge of the marketplace, disease state, buy and bill pathway, applicable competitors, industry and cross-functional activities/plans to anticipate and effectively manage business opportunities and challenges in a compliant manner.
• Understands the dynamics of large retina practices and how to navigate within the account and tailor activities accordingly.
• Educates accounts on retina products, administration, adherence management, and/or disease state.

This individual will lead the execution of account strategy and tactical plans by effectively collaborating with Area Business Leaders, Access Reimbursement Managers, Thought Leader Liaisons, Key Account Managers and other internal resources as necessary, and is accountable for overall account sales.

• Develops and manages specific account plans in conjunction with non-medical field teams.
• Collaborates with sales team colleagues to share best practices.
• Works to ensure appropriate access to sample ordering and copay assistance for eligible patients with commercial insurance.
• Prioritizes time and resources to ensure optimal coverage of accounts and stakeholders.
• Anticipates potential barriers to achievement of goals and proposes solutions for success.
• Ensure account strategy is consistent with national objectives (e.g. brand & segment strategy).
