Job Description
Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research is seeking an expert in small molecule oncology drug discovery to join our Oncology Disease Area (DA) in Cambridge MA. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of scientists in the Oncology group, playing a key role in the development of new therapies for cancer.
An ideal candidate would meld a deep understanding of cancer biology with experience in small molecule drug discovery to lead drug discovery projects from inception to the clinic.
Key to success will be the ability to lead, coach, motivate and communicate within a complex multidisciplinary environment.

Minimum requirements
Successful candidates will have a PhD in the life sciences and a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of Oncology research, particularly related to industrial drug discovery and development as evidenced by a minimum of 3 years industry experience.
Thorough familiarity and demonstrated experience with all aspects of small molecule drug discovery and clear examples of innovation within the field.
Also needed:
• A strong publication record is essential.
• Proven leadership experience and the ability to coach and mentor.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and scientifically driven, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide timely and open feedback.
• Demonstrated ability to present experimental data to diverse audiences such as project teams and executive boards.
