Job Description
The Manager, Cell Processing Team for Morris Plains is responsible for daily operations. Specifically to direct, manage and implement activities related to the Processing Unit to produce and deliver product with high quality; in a compliant, efficient, and cost effective manner.
•Maintaining a physical presence with direct reports (manufacturing associates) on and off the shop floor to supervise, coah and support. •Foster & support a team culture that is engaged and empowered. •Ensure Associates are executing tasks per approved policies and applicable procedures •Ensure Associates are demonstrating the proper aseptic techniques & behaviors. •Recognizes changes from routine practices and takes appropriate next steps utilizing critical thinking skills •Coordinate, monitor, and improve production process in conjunction with Manufacturing Team and Operational Excellence Program (OpEx) •Work closely with Manufacturing Support Team to address process related issues. •Work with team to resolve tactical issues and facilitate Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) •Communicate and coordinate with other departments to be aware and facilitate incoming process changes •Empowers Associates to react appropriately to unplanned situations •Support Associates to achieve their annual objectives. •Manage any disciplinary actions (including PIP’s) with direct reports. •Participate in team member hiring. •Assist in facilitating team meetings. •Routinely recognize and reward Associates who demonstrate exceptional behaviors. •Support IT system (MES, LIMS, etc.) Implementation plans. •Support teamwork, strong communication and motivation within and across teams •Provide support to all employees in the area to ensure they are equipped with all tools, training and documentation to perform their tasks •Compiles area metrics, reports, and performance levels as required. This may include reporting to higher level Management •Supports the operations strategy and ensure operations tactics are aligned with strategy •Works closely with all functions (Quality, Whse, Training, Supply Chain, Engineering, Facilities, Equipment Team) to ensure that the production plans fulfilled •Meet quality, compliance, GMP and regulations •Maintains current knowledge of approved procedures and SOPs •Act in accordance with Novartis Values & Behaviors

Minimum requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree – in Biotechnology, Biopharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacy or other Life Science-related scientific degree.
Experience:
• 3 – 5 years’ supervisor/management experience preferred
• 1 – 3 years’ experience in cGMP cell culture required, with cell therapy manufacturing highly desirable
• Proven process understanding (Pharma, GMP, Regulatory aspects).
• Project management, Operational Excellence, Product/Process Development or Regulatory experience a plus
Position requires ability to work non-traditional working hours and weekends. The standard working hours for this role will be 3pm to 1:30am, 4 days per week; either Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday.
