The Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disease Department (CVM) at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) is committed to discovering innovative treatments for cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, and is seeking a highly motivated and qualified scientist to join the Biochemistry group.
The responsibilities of this position include development and execution of biochemical, biophysical, or cell-based assays and ex vivo tissue analysis to support target validation, mechanism of action and pre-clinical therapeutic development of CVM programs.
The candidate will also be expected to document work in a timely manner, assist in writing of research documents and publications, and present data inside, and perhaps outside, NIBR.

Desired profile
Minimum requirements
Qualified candidates should possess a MS degree in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, biophysics, biomedical engineering or a related field, or a BS degree and at least 3 years of relevant laboratory experience. In addition, expertise in one or more of the following areas is important: biochemistry, biophysics, enzymology, cell-based assays in primary cells or cell lines, or cellular mechanism of action and target validation studies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to learn new techniques are essential. A record of accomplishment, as demonstrated by publication(s) or abstract (s), is preferred, whereas previous industrial experience is not essential.
