General Description
Purpose of the Role: This internship will investigate machine learning applications for the mobile platform. This internship involves both application profiling and performance/power improvement within the deep-learning domain. The prospective intern will work with the Android OS and AI teams to research the interface between the Machine Learning applications and the android operating system. The internship aims to identify potential bottlenecks and improvements to power and performance of these applications. Accepted interns will be a part of a dynamic group working and collaborating with experts in Android, Vision and AI. Interns at Samsung Research UK are encouraged to write high quality research papers/patents towards the end of their internship. It is expected that the successful applicant will currently be studying for a Master's level degree or a doctorate in Computer Science or a related subject.

Necessary Skills / Attributes Essential skills are: • Experience of C/C++ or Python • Linux development, ideally with Android OS Desirable skills include: • Java programming • Deep-Learning and the relevant frameworks • Development experience on the Linux platform • Profiling and improving application performance • Code parallelization using multithreading and GPGPU techniques The internship period is negotiable according to the applicant's current circumstances, but will typically be 4 to 6 months and candidate must be eligible to work in the UK
