Job description
Manage the compliance to REACh and Hazardous substances legislation as well as with Safran company procedures
• Responsible for the implementation of the REACh strategy at a site level by the engagement of others to solve hazardous material related issues and ensure compliance with legislation and Safran policies
• Liaise with other Safran entities and Safran Experts to ensure that we adopt a ‘One Safran' approach to Hazardous Materials management.
• Manage substitution of hazardous materials from qualification through to implementation to ensure parts are safe to fly as well as compliant to legislation and to Safran procedures
• Maintain and update the internal material and process specifications with REACh compliant specifications.
• Participate in customer briefings, design reviews, and demonstrations by providing technical guidance to ensure the generators maintain the highest possible quality standard and comply with the latest legislation and corporate guidelines.
• Coach graduates or other less experienced engineers

Desired profile
• Focal point for REACh and Hazardous Substances for the site
• No direct financial or staff responsibility but assisting managing a budget
• Managing off site contractors to ensure on time delivery of work
• Work Package leader for materials and chemicals relating to REACh/Hazardous substances and a plan for obsolescence and/or approval into aerospace electrical machines. Final substitution decision will be with the Materials Team Leader, however, the REACh Materials and Process Engineer will have a significant influence on this decision.
• Working with customers to show how new legislation affects their products and how Safran propose to mitigate against these risks
Travel specifictity

Candidate skills & requirements
• Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Broad materials and processes knowledge (paint, soldering, welding, metal finish, coatings, adhesives, metallic, surface treatment).
• Knowledge of writing and approving qualification plans for an aerospace company
• Demonstratable knowledge in surface science and coatings
• Project management and budgetary reporting
• Ideally knowledge of Safran Materials and Processes
• Ideally bilingual with the second or first language being French
• Ideally knowledge and experience of managing/working with REACh
• Evidence of written English at interview stage. This will be through providing certification of a formal English or technical qualification studied in the UK or overseas in English. If this cannot be provided you will be required to complete and pass an online SHL English comprehension test as part of the interview process.
