This position will be responsible for overseeing the operation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Bulk Chemical trans-loading area and ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting as required by Federal and State of Iowa permits as well as consistent with Company production, safety, and sanitation standards. This position manages Bargaining Unit employees, safety and environmental programs, and operational and maintenance budgets. The incumbent must be self-motivated, promote positive teamwork and demonstrate experience in contributing individual efforts toward team goals.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

· 
Assists the WWT Team Leader with the daily operation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant ensuing compliance with all Federal and State regulations.

· 
Actively participates in plant safety programs; reviewing and enforcing compliance with safety and health regulations; providing safety training to employees in the WWTP; completing action items necessary for safety and health compliance and investigating any safety problem or accident with the WWTP department.

· 
In coordination with the WWTP Team Leader, provides leadership and facilities problem resolution; resource utilization and timecard approvals; facilities the training and qualification process and complete the performance review process for all operations reports. 

· 
Investigates day to day employee relations problems; collaborating with Human Resources to resolve behavioral and disciplinary situations grounded in Company policy.

· 
Monitors and reports daily loadings received from each refinery and recommend, assists and follow-up on corrective actions when necessary. 

· 
Manages operations of Bulk Chemical trans-loading.

· 
Leads employees’ continuous safety performance improvement.

· 
Monitors WWTP operations and performs daily analysis of the WWTP biological health status & recommend process changes based on analytical data collected.

· 
Initiates maintenance work order requests; reviews the WWTP and Bulk Chemical maintenance by reviewing scheduled and repair work orders; discusses maintenance projects and time schedules with mini-plant maintenance leads; oversees maintenance projects to ensure completion.

· 
Ensures compliance with Union Contract(s) and handle complaints and grievances.

· 
Executes good housekeeping practices contributing to maintenance of WWTP, Bulk Chemical and entire plant. 

· 
Troubleshoots and implements corrective actions of WWTP and Bulk Chemical plant.

· 
Manages and reviews daily/monthly/annual regulatory reporting to environmental agencies.

· 
Develops WWTP and Bulk Chemical multi-shift plans then implements through BU employees and USTLs/USATLs.

· 
Represents and reports WWTP and Bulk Chemical operational and health asset status and coordinates proactive interdepartmental actions affecting WWTP at daily production meeting.

· 
Conducts periodic audits for assessing internal compliance with laws, regulations, and company standards.

· 
Executes improvement projects, and develops and implements standard operating procedures.

· 
Develops employees through training , coaching, and evaluations.

Qualifications

· 
BS/BA Degree in Engineering or related science or equivalent experience

· 
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a waste water treatment plant

· 
Thorough process understanding of WWTP operations and have a strong mechanical aptitude

· 
Working knowledge of NPDES permit, Title V, HAZMAT and Process Safety Management

· 
Minimum of one year leadership and supervisory experience

· 
Demonstrated ability to execute projects effectively; with project management experience preferred

· 
Demonstrated technical competence with lab equipment and analysis of data to sees and communicate process health

· 
Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions independently and to work with minimal supervision

· 
Demonstrated strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills, and understanding of cause and effect principles

· 
Demonstrated understanding and effective utilization of statistics

· 
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills as well as internal, external and cross-functional communication skills

· 
Demonstrated strong organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills

· 
Demonstrated physical abilities to meet the demands of the plant environment

· 
Must be able to be on call for WWTP and Bulk Chemical needs
