Job Description

Position Purpose: To lead analytical development and support activities of Nutrition, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical R&D and Customer Technical Services organizations.

Job Description

This is a laboratory-based role to provide analytical support for the development of Nutritional ingredients, food products and the development of   excipients for biopharma and pharma applications.  Typically, this role will lead both/either early and late stage exploratory analytical research to support the aforementioned divisions.  To fuel internal innovations, the personnel should be up to date with scientific trends and research gaps by constantly involving in knowledge acquiring activity either through critical literature reviews in the respective research fields and/or through connections outside of the company. This role will have to engage in collaborations and interactions with knowledge ecosystems such as global research centers, expert groups, and R&D centers of excellence and R&D teams of our customers.

Specific descriptions of the job scope are outlined below:

Lead analytical development and support activities for food products in R&D and Customer Technical Services organizations. In this context , he/she

·  Perform reliable sample preparation and analytical testing in the lab using various analytical chemistry techniques by referring to a pre-determined procedure or not.
·  Set up protocols from directives
·  Develop new methods of analysis or propose improvements to existing methods
·  Develop new techniques as requested

Background and environment :

The function is exercised:

·  In an laboratory specialized in physico-chemical analyses equipment with various capabilities such as rheology, thermochemistry, spectrometry ,  …
·  In relation to the scientists of R&D and CTS departments

Major responsibilities :

·  Provide analytical support to local R&D or CTS teams based in Asia with deep scientific knowledge.
·  Conduct  analytical chemistry investigations for new and existing products requested by the various services of the R&D or CTS centers.
·  In collaboration with the Global Roquette Analytical network, develop high-quality technological knowledge and expertise in rheology and structure/function chemistry of polysaccharides and proteins as needed for food application.
·  Take lead for protein and carbohydrate products characterizations, such emulsion stability, texture and viscosity, etc.
·  Integrate new techniques and adapt them to acquire more physico-chemical and structural information products
·  Process and report analytical data
·  Share outcomes with the team manager 
·  Write studies to provide evaluation of new and existing products.
·  Determine with the team manager  the specific programs of study or analytical development according to technical constraints.
·  Organize daily work : flow analysis, urgency and duration of analysis.
·  Schedule activities and organize work to meet study requirements in a timely, cost effective manner.
·  Participate in general lab management such as in ordering supplies, maintaining or repairing instrumentation, performing calibrations, keeping instrument, and chemical inventory records
·  Maintain the Equipment and ensure compliance of hygiene, safety and quality.

REQUIREMENTS 

·  A highly skilled analytical scientist with a Ph. D in chemistry, food chemistry or biochemistry with Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in food or nutrition related industries.
·  Experience in performing the analytical testing of food products and nutritional ingredients.
·  Experience in studies related to  the characterization of food products or nutritional ingredients such as carbohydrates, proteins.
·  Experience  in developing  new analytical methods or proposing improvements to existing methods 
·  Experience in physic-chemical and structural characterization of proteins and carbohydrates is desirable.
·  Able to Perform data analysis and results interpretation and presentation of results  
·  Experienced in writing proposals, project reports, research plans and scientific publications.
·  Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional research divisions.
·  A flexible and approachable personality
·  Approach challenges positively and ability to adapt and evolve in an agile manner to rapidly changing business and organizational needs.
