Roquette America’s manufacturing facility in Keokuk, Iowa is an expansive continuous processing corn wet-milling facility that proudly produces corn-based starches, syrups and polyols used in many food and beverage applications as well as in pharmaceuticals, paper products, cosmetics and agricultural goods.

Roquette America, Inc. is seeking an entry-level laboratory analyst for a Quality Control Microbiology position at its Keokuk, Iowa location.  Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the lab analyst will be responsible for laboratory testing of in-process samples and finished products. 

Job Responsibilities

·  Perform microbiological analysis for quality release of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
·  Assess conformance of manufactured products against customer specifications. 
·  Document micro results in batch sheets and enter data into electronic database.
·  Perform identification and enumeration of yeast, mold, and bacteria using microscopic staining techniques.
·  Preparation of various media and other laboratory reagents.
·  Perform instrument calibrations/accuracy checks and maintenance. Troubleshoot equipment as needed.
·  Create and reviews laboratory documents, including forms, log sheets and SOPs
·  Provide support to Manufacturing, Quality, and Environmental departments
·  Responsible for inventory control and ordering of laboratory chemicals and consumables

Required Competencies, Education and Experience

·  BS or BA in Microbiology or a related scientific field
·  Problem Solving and Troubleshooting Capability
·  Technical and Analytical Thinking Proficiency
·  Communication and Interpersonal Skills 
·  Self-Directed and Independent

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Laboratory, plant and office work environment.

Laboratory and plant environment with seldom possible exposure to:

·  High places
·  Heights with safety guards or equipment
·  Driving automotive equipment

Laboratory and plant environment with occasional possible exposure to:

·  Extreme heat / cold
·  Extreme humid / wet
·  Atmosphere (poor lighting, ventilation)
·  Being around moving equipment
·  Exposure to dust, fumes and gasses

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 8 hour day position Monday - Friday.

Travel

Travel is not required for this position.
