Job Description

Position purpose-

The Manufacturing CAD Technician plays a key role in the execution of the design and production of our Donor Recognition Walls. The Technician is responsible for the complete design of a project or improvement.

The Technician will perform a variety of design activities including preparing and updating installation drawings for projects; preparing model, assembly, manufacturing and 3D layout drawings for our product as well as establishing guidelines and procedures for CAD data management.

This position is based at the Roquette plant at Portage La Prairie.

Key Responsibilities-

·  Create and update engineering designs and drawings that meet business specifications and are within manufacturing capabilities.
·  Prepare 2D and 3D models, detail drawings, structural drawings, weldment drawings, and assemblies to support Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Maintenance.
·  Ability to design/create and test prototypes for Improvement/ Engineering projects.
·  Create user guides and system manuals for operations and maintenance.
·  Responsible for incorporating best practices to maximize both creativity and efficiencies
·  Responsible for revising and updating existing drawings reflecting design changes
·  Responsible for maintaining notes, design calculations and other documentation for completed CAD drawings for future reference
·  Responsible for implementing these requirements on drawings sent to the customer
·  Develop detail manufacturing instructions, specification sheets and other relevant documentations to enhance the position and department
·  Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment
·  Collaborate closely with the Engineering and Maintenance teams.
·  Responsible for the quality and timeliness of the design in terms of compliance with technical specifications, and regulatory/statutory standards.
·  Comply with all design practices and processes.
·  Comply with Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Job Specifications-

·  Participate in continuous improvement programs
·  Know and respect the rules concerning safety, quality, hygiene and the environment.
·  Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Roquette Pea processing plant and its operations.

Functional competencies-

·  Good understanding of other Trades/craft skills
·  Good communication skills and open to feedback
·  Ideally candidates will possess previous CMMS experience.
·  Expected to work in a responsible and safe manner, follow proper lockout, and safety procedures.
·  Experience in a Skid Fabrication environment considered an asset.
·  Create and develop 2D & 3D model using AutoCad & Navisworks
·  Familiar with development of P&IDs
·   Be a team player and able to project a strong professional demeanor
·  Proactive approach to problem solving
·  Outstanding degree of accuracy
·  Directive personality – solves problems in decisive manner
·  Detail oriented and creative to get the job done

Technical competencies-

·  Proficient to use the Microsoft series of office software tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project). 
·  Good knowledge of the following soft wares: AutoCAD, Navisworks
·  Must possess expert knowledge within CAD drawings related to Layer management and usage
·  Drawing scales as they relate to text, dimensions, lines, viewpoints, etc.
·  Cross-sections and profiles
·  Drafting, dimension, tolerance and manufacturing processes
·  Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
·  Knowledge of building layouts, structural requirements would be an asset
·  Ability to work cross functionally and collaborate within a multi-departmental team
·  Must be able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
·  Able to generate model and layout drawings from sketches and specifications
·  A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
