Job Description:

Performs a variety of duties relating to process development including bacterial fermentation, reagent preparation and handling equipment to develop a robust Smarticles production processes

The individual will be required to work in and maintain a clean room environment with aseptic processing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Follow GLP to maintain lab note books, experimental data, associated documentation and log books. Work with coworkers and supervisor to effectively troubleshoot equipment and process issues.

Duties includes handling of hazardous materials in activities described above. Follow established safety and environmental guidelines and procedures for all work performed.

Qualification:

·  Bachelor's degree junior or senior student preferably in Life Sciences or equivalent.

Program Requirements:

· 
Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university during program calendar year 2020

· 
Completed at least 2 years of college/university to be eligible for the program.

· 
Must have a ≥3.0 GPA

· 
Minimum availability of 12 weeks (Required start on or before program Welcome Reception and end date on or after Summer End Poster Symposium).

· 
Previous experience in the job duties listed, either through course work or industry/academia

· 
Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience

What the intern will learn:

·  Hands on experience with aseptic technique and bacterial fermentation processes
·  Manipulation of bacterial metabolism and protein expression with reference to product performance
·  Experimental design, process optimization, data interpretation and troubleshooting
