Packaging Engineer/Sr. Packaging Engineer (2 positions)

Job Summary:

This position supports the establishment of a world-class packaging engineering organization by providing technical leadership and expertise in the development, qualification and deployment of new packaging systems for sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products

The selected candidate will work on a variety of packaging initiatives and will lead the development and qualification of global packaging solutions of assigned projects for clinical and commercial use. You will play a vital role in designing the best packaging for new molecules coming through the pipeline and launches. This activity involves close cooperation and collaboration with Technical Development Teams, Regulatory, Operations, CMO's, Quality, Suppliers and other involved stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

· 
Lead packaging engineering projects within global teams in order to meet predefined timelines and budget.

· 
Deliver innovative packaging solutions to meet patient and business needs.

· 
Develop and qualify global primary and secondary packaging solutions for products through the packaging lifecycle.

· 
Establish packaging systems for clinical and commercial use.

· 
Innovate: Evaluate and develop new materials and/or alternate packaging materials, packaging solutions or packaging systems based on patient, product, regulatory, business or technical requirements.

· 
Ensure compliance with international and external regulations.

· 
Active and constructive contribution across packaging engineering and the broader organization, as well as leadership of strategic projects representing for the whole of packaging engineering.

· 
Develop knowledge for the organization and share the gained know-how with team members.

· 
For the Sr. Engineer position, an additional key responsibility is to provide technical mentorship to team members in the department.

Education & Qualifications:

· 
Requires a Bachelor degree, preferably with an engineering degree in packaging, materials science, chemical, mechanical, or a related field.

· 
Packaging Engineer: 2+ years working in packaging development lifecycle activities in the Pharma, Medical Device, Food or Cosmetic industry.

· 
Sr. Packaging Engineer : 8+ years working in packaging development lifecycle activities in the Pharma, Medical Device, Food or Cosmetic industry.

You bring the following qualifications:

· 
Project management skills and experience in cross-functional projects.

· 
Knowledge of testing methodologies and test standards as well as knowledge regarding design control, documentation, risk management and processes.

· 
Expertise in packaging technology (e.g. vials, pre-filled syringe, devices, aseptic form/fill/seal, sterilization, bottles, blisters, labels, cartons, etc) and printing systems.

· 
Development of qualification protocols/reports for packaging and shipping qualification activities.

· 
Design thinking, design management, drives creativity.

· 
Open-minded individual motivated to drive self-initiated continuous improvement and innovation efforts driving towards optimization and lean principles.

· 
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

· 
Fosters team effectiveness, team spirit, team alignment, share risks within the team beyond the function.

· 
English language proficiency required.



Travel required: 10-20%

In addition to the qualifications listed above, the Sr. Packaging Engineer will also require the following:

· 
Skilled at working autonomously on complex tasks or several parallel tasks and projects. Sets priorities and fulfills deadlines. Many projects have strategic relevance for the organization

· 
Experience in mentoring/coaching team members

· 
Experience interacting with senior internal and external leaders to drive packaging development initiatives/goals
