We are a lean and agile organization driving key projects of an innovative nature, addressing the need to deal with unusual challenges in addition to standardized project execution methods. Our clients are mainly research, development and production units within the pharma and diagnostics divisions as well as the site management organization.

In addition to structured technology management including scanning, scouting and monitoring of emerging technologies, we are especially involved in conducting feasibility studies and pilot projects.

We often create key production processes that endure for years or even decades and are automated and monitored with standard IT tools (Scada, DCS, historians). By applying state of the art methods for advanced data analysis, we aim to enhance process knowledge and find new process optimization methods, ideally without a negative influence on asset availability.

We adopt a similar approach to help reduce routine maintenance efforts and avoid unnecessary production equipment downtimes. Our data analysis insights allow for evolution from costly preventive maintenance scenarios to condition-based or even predictive strategies.

For scheduled projects a basic knowledge of production or maintenance processes in the pharmaceutical industry is required as well as profound knowledge of sensor technology, statistical methods, data visualization frameworks, machine learning and the setup of large-scale data architectures.

Our scientific information services work at the leading edge in the text mining and data science sectors, for example, to support the development of new biomarkers and drug targets. Analysis of internal and external data is the key to generating new insights in drug development, research or production processes.

In addition to technical and methodological capabilities, excellent communication skills are required.

For the Cooperative Study Program 2018: Master of Science, Computational Life Science and Data Engineering, you meet the following requirements.

You are a student / attending the Jacobs University Master of Science, Computational Life Science or Data Engineering course and can confirm this with your enrollment certificate.

You are prepared to complete the mandatory internship prescribed by the course of study and the master's thesis in faculties on campus.

The Roche Cooperative Study Program alternates between lectures and internships as part of your master's degree program at Jacobs University and practical assignments at Roche during semester breaks. The practical assignments prepare you for the job-related fields of a Master Computational Life Science or Master Data Engineering qualification.
