Job description

  Job facts

At Roche, we believe it's urgent to deliver medical solutions right now – even as we develop innovations for the future. We are passionate about transforming patients' lives and we are fearless in both decision and action. And we believe that good business means a better world.

That is why we come to work each day. We commit ourselves to scientific rigour, unassailable ethics, and access to medical innovations for all. We do this today to build a better tomorrow.

The Translational Technology team sits within Neuroscience, Ophthalmology and Rare Diseases (NORD), Pharma Research and early Development (pRED). The mission of our team is the development of innovative biomarker strategies for NORD therapeutic areas particularly focusing on target engagement, mechanism of action, pharmacodynamic response, and identification of responsive patient populations. Our group's vision is to utilize the most advanced methods including digital biomarkers, imaging (MRI and PET), EEG and fluid biomarkers to support scientific decision-making in early drug development. We are looking for an innovative and collaborative individual to join the Translational Technology biomarker group and advance this vision.

We are currently looking for a creative scientist with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in experimental human neuroscience research, including designing, competitively proposing, conducting, analyzing data from and interpreting the results of experimental human neuroscience studies. We are seeking someone with strong statistical/analytical and computational skills who comfortably navigates and integrates large multidimensional and multimodal datasets. Expertise with neurologic disease, particularly neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology and other CNS indications, as well as experience with advanced Bayesian and/or frequentist statistics and machine learning is a plus.

Your responsibilities include:

·  You bring a positive, creative, collaborative and solution-oriented mindset to develop cutting-edge biomarker strategies in NORD-specific therapeutic areas.
·  You are responsible for the design and implementation of innovative clinical biomarker strategies, with an expert focus on digital and cognitive biomarkers (including the use of scalable remote monitoring technology like wearables, smartphones and web-based tasks), in NORD clinical development programs.
·  You collaborate with clinical and project teams to advise on specific biomarker technologies aimed at profiling novel compounds, selecting clinical trial populations, predicting outcomes and characterizing the effects of treatment on disease.
·  You contribute to design and implementation of clinical trials from a biomarker perspective, including writing and reviewing study protocols and study-related documentation, giving to the study set-up, review of data, data analysis & interpretation, report writing and communication.
·  You interact regularly with other pRED groups, including pRED informatics, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations, Statistics, and Translational Medicine to implement clinical trials and improve trial methodologies.
·  You analyze, represent and interpret clinical biomarker data, with the aim to detect effects of pharmacological compounds, using cutting-edge analytical methodologies.
·  You represent Roche NORD in precompetitive consortia and direct collaborations with academia, ensuring their success with scientific contribution and active presence.
·  You foster relationships with external biomarker centers and experts.
·  You stay at the forefront of scientific and technical excellence by actively reading the peer-reviewed literature, collaborating with the scientific community, publishing high-quality scientific articles, and participating in key conferences.

Requirements:

·  You have a PhD (or equivalent) in neuroscience or related discipline, with at least 3 years postdoctoral experience in human neuroscience and a proven track-record in designing, conducting and analyzing data from experimental clinical neuroscience studies
·  You possess exemplary computational and statistical skills and excellent written and oral English communication skills

If you are a creative scientist with strong communication skills and a consistent record in experimental human neuroscience research (from designing and conducting experiments to analyzing and interpreting the results) and you want to improve patients' lives, apply now.

In this role, you will navigate and integrate large multidimensional and multi-modal datasets. Expertise with neurologic disease, particularly neuro-degeneration, neuroimmunology and other CNS indications, as well as experience with advanced Bayesian and/or frequentest statistics and machine learning is a plus.

Are you ready to apply? We want someone who thinks beyond the job offered - someone who knows that this position can be a rare springboard to many other opportunities at Roche.

Roche embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
