Job Description

You will be involved in all aspects of indoor test at both a technical and an operational level. From time to time you will be involved in certain aspects of outdoor test, primarily related to the procurement of testing equipment.

Operationally, multiple test requests will be received on a daily basis, which need to be completed in as timely a manner as possible.

You will become one of the reference people for all technical aspects of indoor tyre testing, from understanding and implementing test methodologies through to organising operational aspects of the department on a daily basis. You will also be managing multiple projects, both capital and revenue based, typically specifying, procuring, and overseeing the installation of new equipment or software packages.

To assist with smooth operation of the department, you will demonstrate professional behaviour and communication, managing relationships effectively both within the indoor test team, and with the customers [people making the test requests]. The customer base will be diverse, comprising local R&D and Quality, R&D from other operative units, and occasionally OEMs.

Role Responsibility

· To become a reference person for indoor tyre testing, providing a professional service in respect of all that this involves.
· To understand and implement test methodologies, understanding their impact on tyre performance.
· To assist in ensuring the facility operates within required guidelines , respecting the various conditions defined by the regulatory bodies [China, DOT/ECE etc ], and participate in frequent audits [IATF 16949, China etc ].
· Create ‘ ad hoc’ methods if required [for example at the request of an OEM].
· Identify requirements for new equipment/machinery, create specifications, follow the process through to completion [capital expenditure request, RFQ, order, installation & commissioning].
· Support the indoor test operators, motivating and empowering them to their maximum potential.
· Ensure the indoor test team understand all testing requirements, and are appropriately trained in understanding the methodologies/equipment, in order to execute the tests in a competent manner.
· Identify & undertake training and development activities as required to enable both you and the team to fulfil the role(s), keeping knowledge and skills up to date.
· To assist in the guidance, development, and integration of new employees.
· To undertake other activities commensurate with the role.

Candidate Requirements

Education

· High level of general education, with appropriate mechanical and/or electrical engineering training [apprenticeship, HND, degree etc].
· Excellent I.T. skills [previous programming experience would be welcome].
