Your challenge

More and more devices can be connected to and controlled by a smart phone or tablet. Quite often the establishment of such a connection reveals new functionality of the connected device or enables enhanced control or monitoring features. In our business we develop Light based medical devices to treat dermatological conditions, like Psoriasis and Eczema. We are looking for options to connect these devices to smart phones / tablets, but only in case this brings added value for the people. Since our devices are medical device we need to comply with all medical regulations (e.g. with respect or EMC/EMI, as well as data protection, privacy regulation and software security).

The challenge is to investigate the customer insights (expectations / whishes / must haves) for mobile applications and to integrate these into the Hardware and Software of our medical devices and to build the actual Applications (Android / iOS)

Your responsibilities

The project scope:

·  Insight creation (customer needs) – non technical
·  Hardware adjustments (Bluetooth chip integration into existing wearable treatment device)
·  Software development (integrated SW in treatment device)
·  App development: implementation of customer needs (Android / iOS), making use of the Philips guidelines for development of mobile application
·  Software Verification and Validation  - regulatory compliancy checks (HW/SW)

We expect you to deliver next:

·  Insight creation (device functionality, disease management, device status,…) ; translation into customer requirement document.
·  Medical device HW adjustments (Bluetooth module integration)
·  Application architecture
·  Application build
·  Application V&V – basic safety, privacy, EMI/EMC, data protection, 
·  Application release

We have launched our Philips BlueControl in 2014, the first wearable device to treat psoriasis plaque at home with blue light and we will introduce in coming years other devices to treat different types of skin diseases.

This position will be located at our facility at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

We offer you 3 x 9 months projects in 2 countries and 2 businesses in which we would like you to start per September 1st 2017. This project will be your start of your 27 months journey through the Philips Emerging Business organization.

We are looking for

Our ideal candidate has an analytic and problem solving mindset, and has/is:

·  Master degree in:
·  biomedical engineering
·  Electrical/Electronic Engineering
·  Computer Sciences
·  Experience in Mobile application development
·  You have affinity/knowledge with/of embedded software and healthcare devices
·  Knowledge of Android, Active will be an asset when applying on this assignment
·  Excellent communication skills (you can interact with great ease with all level of customers)
·  Good empathic capabilities.
·  Team player
·  Interested in medical devices and related regulatory affairs
