about the role

Design and deliver Orange CDN services & evolutions

- Design various CDN solutions, based on customers’ specifications & requirements, produce documentation, follow-up on their implementation with CDN operational teams and CDN technology vendor(s), and report on progress to Business Unit interlocutors (Service delivery managers, Marketing, etc.);

- Keep up-to-date various CDN documents relative to external interfaces, namely:

1/ Interworking with Video On Demand Content management platform, live head-ends, software updates repositories, etc.

2/ Interworking with external DNS components

3/ Interworking with client devices (set-top box, mobile devices, etc.);

- Produce engineering documents for use by operational teams in charge of implementation, configuration changes, software upgrades, new CDN components deployments, etc.;

- Qualify and assess evolutions over lab and pre-production platforms for subsequent implementation by operational teams on production.

Contribute to increasing operational efficiency / industrialization

- Contribute to enabling service rollout automation;

- Contribute to the industrialization of operational & business IT tools;

- Contribute to leveraging CDN data/logs for deriving operational and business value.

   Contribute to enriching Orange CDN offers’ value proposition

  - Contribute to CDN roadmap evolution consistent to Orange strategy and business ambitions

about you

Technical skills

- Decent understanding of IP networking fundamentals (routing, TCP, DNS, NTP…) & web architecture & protocols (http, https…); hands-on experience appreciated; - Hands-on experience with Linux servers configuration and operation;

- Basic understanding of computer technics and systems; hands-on experience appreciated;

- Basic knowledge of cloud environment & virtualization (VMs, containers);

- Elementary understanding of software development (notably Python) and scripting; - Elementary understanding of ICT Project Management and ITIL/ITSM concepts;

- Knowledge of any CDN, video streaming protocols and related technology solutions would be greatly appreciated;

- Knowledge of databases, storage & big data (e.g. Hadoop clusters, Elastic search, Kafka, Cockroach, Grafana…) would be appreciated;

- Knowledge of monitoring tools (witbe…) would be appreciated;

- Knowledge of ICT system & network security principles and concepts would be appreciated;

- Knowledge of Agile principles, CI/CD & DEVOPS frameworks would be appreciated.

Education

A formal degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering or equivalent preferred, but not necessarily a requirement; higher degrees advantageous.

CDN ENGINEERING team (WIN/OINIS/NET/CDN) is in charge of researching, developing, designing and validating various CDN technologies, platforms, infrastructures and customer services. It also provides highest level support to Operational teams for production platforms, when needed.
Other team’s core activities are to provide help to Business Units in capturing added value of different CDN solutions to enrich sales and to contribute to technical aspects of division’s CDN strategy and roadmap.
Team’s main products are Managed CDN (MCDN) and MDB (Media Delivery Boost).
MCDN is product suited best for ISPs and other network operators that provide special content, like IPTV or OTT, to millions of their end customers, where CDN platform speeds up and raises efficiency of such content delivery. On other hand, MDB is a global WIN’s CDN network used by our customers, mostly Content Providers, which want to reach their customers in different regions of the world, while minimizing content transfer complexities, network ownership and, finally, cost.
CDNe team operates from within Network Engineering & Technology (NET), an integrated engineering department encompassing various aspects of network technology, which is, in turn, part of a larger Orange International Networks, Infrastructures & Services (OINIS) entity.
Finally, in organizational sense, OINIS integrates different levels of Design/Build/Run technical expertise and processes, supporting both WIN & OBS in their core missions.

Base salary from 2,000 € gross per month, actual salary is likely to be higher based on skills, knowledge and experience.
