System Engineer

Job description

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Perform performance trend analysis and manage the server/network capacity. React to potential problems using automation, scheduling, and monitoring tools -- escalating to management where appropriate. Participate in configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system. Responsible for support documentation as well.

Duties and tasks are standard with some variation. Completes own role largely independently within defined policies and procedures. 2-4 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.

Cloud Deployment Engineering (CDE) team play a key role in operations by ensuring our infrastructure is optimized to serve our customers' needs and can continuously support growth.
The team's foremost responsibility is to ensure cloud environment is properly supported and can serve all internal and external deployment requirements.
Cloud Deployment Engineering strives to ensure our cloud environment's optimal performance to support company's uptime, availability, and dependability goals.

Responsibilities:
• Ensure quality and consistent cloud hardware deployment across all data centers
• Drive Cloud Deployment capacity and logistics
• Collaborate with other operations teams to ensure Cloud infrastructure is up-to-date and optimized
• Automate manual tasks
• Manage large scale linux environment
• Build and maintain Cloud Deployment tools
• Work closely with Saltstack system engineers
• Gain familiarity with NetSuite Data Center environments

Qualifications:
• Experience with Unix or Linux
• Experience with large Data Center environments
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash and Perl
• System orchestration management experience (Saltstack, puppet)
• Capable of working independently and take ownership of tasks/projects
• Detail-oriented and have organizational skills
• 2-3 years' experience as Linux System Administrator

Preferred Qualifications:
• Phython scripting/development
• Saltstack Experience
• 3-4 years' experience working in a large-scale production operations environment
• BS in Computer Science or related field
