Job description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Qualifications :

Oracle's Hardware Development (OHD) is seeking a highly motivated UEFI/BIOS Firmware Engineer with a background in systems architecture and software(firmware) development. Oracle's Hardware Development (OHD) team is responsible for hardware design, development and the delivery of superior server product offerings into Oracle's Cloud infrastructure and Oracle's on-premise engineered systems. This candidate will work in a team oriented environment to architect, design and implement UEFI based firmware to meet Oracle's product requirements and needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

· 
BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

· 
3+ years of professional experience designing, developing software solutions

· 
3+ years experience working with UEFI firmware, Legacy BIOS or Pre-boot environments

· 
Excellent programming skills in C/C++

· 
Proficient in x86 Assembly Language and Python scripts

· 
Knowledge of industry bus architectures (PCI/PCIE, I2C, SPI, USB, UART)

· 
Knowledge of UEFI security or firmware security features (TPM, Secure Boot, TXT)

· 
Hands on experience with EDK/EDK-II development environment is a strong plus

Responsibilities:

· 
Main responsibilities include code customization, feature development, debugging, providing fixes and SW releases.

· 
Develop common reusable UEFI libraries, drivers and applications that are portable across different Oracle product lines and extensible to future generations of CPUs and chipsets.

· 
Collaborate with other functional teams (H/W, Diagnostics, ILOM) in the definition and implementation of cross functional software and hardware interfaces

· 
Debug and trouble shoot issues with JTAG debuggers (ICE, ITP, HDT), Oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.

· 
Interface with both internal and external Oracle customers to understand their products needs, and seek creative solutions or apply existing industry technologies to address these needs.

· 
Provide root cause analysis and corrective action analysis of issues reported in the field and in manufacturing.

· 
Author and review design and requirement specifications.
