Job description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Solutions Engineer

Oracle’s Cloud Native Developer Relations team is part of OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), the organization that is building the next-generation of public cloud infrastructure (IaaS), edge and container native services. The Developer Relations team is tasked with connecting to the developer communities that are on the cutting edge of cloud technology. Our focus is on supporting developers who are building applications and businesses on top of OCI. Solutions Engineers act on the one hand as passionate advocates (both online and offline) for Oracle Cloud technologies and platforms, whilst on the other hand developing and prototyping solutions using OCI, that make developers’ lives easier. Your work fosters a community of developers working with Oracle technologies and helps to drive strategy around developer relations.

Responsibilities

· Work closely with the various OCI teams and develop processes and solutions for content narratives and best practices using OCI and open source software.

· Create scalable content (blog posts, tutorials, screencasts, webinars) to help bring awareness and understanding of OCI’s product offerings for developers.

· Develop (open source) solutions, tool chains, starter kits on top OCI, Kubernetes, Docker and the FN Serverless project.

· Directly interact with developers at meetups, conferences and other types of events.

· Develop use-cases from these interactions with developers and OCI customers.

· Advocate for developers internally and facilitate product teams in their understanding of the external landscape and developer ecosystem.

Qualifications:

·  2+ years of experience in developer evangelism or advocacy role

·  6+ years of software engineering experience
·  Can travel at a minimum 1 week each month
·  Proven track record for speaking and writing with publicly available examples of both
·  Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
·  Experience with four or more modern programming languages (Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Go, Perl, shell, etc.).

We are flexible about education and experience but think that this role is suited to someone with at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
