6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 3-4 years consulting experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Role Description and Purpose
The Technical Lead's primary purpose is to provide leadership on technical matters to an Oracle Commerce project team. Through demonstrated expertise and skills in web application design and development, this person will become an indispensible project resource as part of a larger consulting team or an individual technical consultant on for-fee product implementation, enhancement, integration, or audit projects. Design complexity may range from fairly straightforward to moderately complex, with single or multiple products, and involving multiple technical environments.
Expertise and work efforts focus primarily on coaching consulting engineers, ensuring quality of project deliverables, and acting as liaison to other key technical resources on the project team, including customer-supplied developers, 3 rd party developers, etc. The Tech Lead operates under minimal supervision on medium to large size projects involving multiple products and/or platforms. This person works closely with an architect, a Project Manager, and consulting engineers. The Tech Lead achieves results through strong subject matter expertise, leadership, collaboration, and teamwork. To perform at this level, a strong analytic capability and consulting skills are required. The ability to communicate effectively with team members and others within the customer organization is a must. The Tech Lead will often coach other customer or partner engineers on development best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Analyze customer requirements and functional requirements in order to write technical specifications; ensures quality of technical specifications written by team
· Collaborate with Project Manager to create the development schedule, including work effort estimates, work breakdown structure, project dependencies, resource allocation, etc.
· Collaborate with the architect to ensure that the architectural vision is realized in the technical specifications and code created
· Provide technical leadership to developers throughout entire project life cycle
· Contribute to the growth of Oracle Commerce business and improvement of OCC service delivery through the creation and sharing of knowledge on project experiences
· Manage change control process, including project scope control, assessing impact of change requests, estimating work effort for change requests, etc.
· Manage source control process as well as build process
· Act as primary point of resolution for technical issues, collaborating with the architect and/or Project Manager whenever necessary
· Observe any project risks that arise during project execution and elevate them to the architect and/or Project Manager whenever necessary
· Act as technical liaison between all technical resources engaged on the project, whether as part of the Oracle Commerce Consulting team, the customer's team, and/or any 3 rd party teams; help customer understand overall technical direction and progress
· Conduct code reviews throughout the development phase, ensuring that best practices are followed and lessons learned are promulgated to entire team
· Estimate level of effort to code and test moderately difficult to complex requirements
· Create key project deliverables, including technical specifications, unit tests, and tested code
· Coach and mentor others in development best practices, the software development life cycle, and other core technical skills and knowledge
· Submit status updates on all project activities to the Project Manager
Essential Skills, Education and Work Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
· A strong technical background in eCommerce, preferably Oracle Commerce (ATG/Endeca) and Commerce Cloud, but candidates with relevant experience in other technologies will also be considered.
· At least 3 years of hands-on experience with development, system configuration, testing and documentation of Commerce solutions.
· Demonstrated expertise in Java and UI development including: Java, Java Script (Knockout preferred), Booststrap, JQuery, node.js, HTML/CSS.
· Knowledge of Cloud technologies and applications is strongly desired.
· Experience working with customers and/or business stakeholders on Commerce implementations.
· Experience with business and technical requirements gathering and analysis.
· Strong communications skills in English and Spanish.

· Availability to travel and work with a diverse set of Clients and high performing professionals.
· A desire to be part of large, high-impact projects and grow in the process.
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math or related field is required. A combination of 3-5 years of experience in relevant industry business practices, business consulting, and/or technical consulting is required; retail and telecommunications sectors are most desired.
In addition, the following are critical skills required (or desired, where noted) to perform well in this position:
· Experience leading software development teams
· Extensive experience with the JBOSS and/or WebLogic Application Servers
· Experience with web servers (e.g. Apache) is a must; experience with mod_proxy, mod_ssl, and/or mod_jk is a plus
· Experience developing on multiple Operating Systems (Linux, Unix, Windows, MacOS a plus)
· Database experience with one of the following is a must, Oracle MSSQL, MySQL. DBA experience is a plus
· UI Development (HTML, CSS, AJAX, Javascript, Actionscript) is a must
· Server side development (Java/J2SE) is a must have
· Experience in writing web services (publishing or consuming)
· Experience writing XML/XSL/XSD.
· Experience with build processes and tools (Ant, Maven, etc.)
· Experience with source control processes & tools (Perforce, Subversion, code branching)
· Experience with code Refactoring and Profiling
· UML and Shell Scripting experience is a must
· Designing system architecture (hardware, OS networking)
· Experience sizing systems
· Experience with code profiling
· Extensive experience working in various SDLC methodologies (waterfall, OUM, Scrum, etc.)
· Experience with IDE's (particularly Eclipse)
