This position supports customers of Procurement Switzerland (all Divisions in Switzerland) by defining business requirements related to 3rd. party spend and leading the Purchasing process. Leads both customers and suppliers through the Procurement process (ie RFP preparation, tender conduct, vendor selection and commercial negotiations) and manages the relationship with the Novartis Global Service Centers providing the operational support Accountable for driving cost-effectiveness of commercial deals, risk management of supply base and ensuring that company standards are appropriately applied.

• Support Procurement plans, priorities, budgets and performance objectives for assigned customers with 3rd. party requirements in respective category to create mutual value
• Actively influences customer demand and consumption in order to drive effectiveness and efficiency of resource utilization and introduce innovative sourcing strategies (such as eCatalgue).
• Builds and sustains long-term customer partnerships that creates mutual value – provides dedicated support to at least one major business franchise as the First Point of Contact on Procurement related requests.
• Ensures cross functional understanding of Procurement plans within Procurement Switzerland organization while managing customer expectations and adherence to policy and quality aspects (including compliance monitoring and development of corrective measurements if required).
• Supports work to establish effective communications with key business partners and other Procurement organizations. Supports advocacy for positive category outcomes including establishing common goals and objectives
• Ensures coordination with Global Category organization around innovative Procurement strategies, project planning, program execution and productivity. Contribute to global cross sector / divisional Category Management projects.
• In coordination with the Global Category Organization ensures access to expert insight into the supply markets, best practices, demand patterns and their impact on Procurement activities.
• Accountable to drive year over year total cost efficiency improvements resulting from procurement activities.
• Ensures the application of company standards to the procurement of goods and services.
• Close collaboration with other NBS Procurement Switzerland associates to develop and deploy state of the art procurement strategies and become recognized as a top tier purchasing organization.
• Prepare and lead the buying process (RFIs, RFPs and other sourcing events) in support of the customers.
• Support NBS Procurement Switzerland Head of Category / Domain in the execution of complex purchasing projects by providing logistical, negotiation and contracting support.
• Closely collaborate with NBS Procurement Switzerland Head of Category / Domain to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient execution of functional source plans
• Accountable for selection of good quality suppliers and ensuring that supply risks are managed appropriately.

Desired profile

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum. Master’s degree preferred; in fields such as business administration, finance, science or economy.
• Oral and written communication skills in English is essential. Fluency in German is beneficial.
• Minimum 3-5 years working experience in a corporate environment – preferably in pharma sector.
• Familiarity and knowledge of marketing would be considered favorable.
• Thorough understanding of operations and business culture of multinational company.
• Advanced skill set for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Capable of collecting and interpreting data to derive meaning, identify patterns of behavior and support policy recommendations.
• Strong communication and business partnering skills- must be able to share results through appropriate channels such as metrics, reports, surveys and monitoring tools with other functional areas in the organization.
