Position Summary

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for planning, directing and supervising production activities and employees in accordance with the departmental policies, procedures and standards to achieve established production schedules and desired quality levels. Responsible for recommending and implementing improvements within the operations, along with managing key operating indicators such as safety, performance, quality and sanitation.

Major Responsibilities
· Makes changes to the production schedule as problems arise due to personnel shortages or equipment problems in order to scheduled goals.
· Able to understand and implement proper use of supervisory standard work routine on a shift by shift basis – understand connectivity between key metrics and standard routines.
· Ability to direct labour in daily activities related to sanitation (MSP's, DOC's and FSI's).
· Labour utilization (vacation management) – prioritization of MSP/DOC's and FSI's.
· Understand department specific SOP's, Work Instructions and have ability to direct work force in their implementation.
· Adherence to standards – changeover checklists, use of packing line changeover standards, adherence to TPM related standards (ie Clean Inspect Lube standards, Tags (for corrective action on production lines), 5S, Centrelining, Lubrication etc.).
· Clear understanding of factory Quality Management System as it relates to specific areas in the factory (extrusion, mill, batching, packaging etc.).
· Understanding of budget drivers in production department and what factors influence positively (MUV=waste/refeed generation, O/T=VME, Running to rate=Asset Intensity, VME=Labour and Energy).
· Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
· Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
· Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
· Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
· Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures established by the Company.
· Coach Safety, Quality and Productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work
· Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
· Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
· Effective communicate and provide recognitions aligned with the Company's reward and recognition program.

Qualifications

· Completion of Community College Diploma/Degree or technical certification (engineering degree preferred)
· 5 years' experience in a food process, high-speed packaging environment with two years' experience supervising staff (Technical experience required)
· Off-shift vacation coverage required
· Individual must be detail-oriented, methodical, and well organized, with intermediate computer skills. Knowledge of statistics is preferred
· Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Power point required
· Willingness to become familiar with multiple Nestlé-developed software applications. SAP experience an asset
· Strong interpersonal and time management skills
· The successful candidate is a creative thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills. They will be able to work independently and manage with multiple demands
· Able to anticipate challenges and opportunities with proactive behavior
· Capable of assigning work to unionized hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms of safety, quality and throughput
· Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail with strong initiative, customer service focused attributes
· Excellent prioritization and communication skills
· Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast paced environment
