The Nestlé Product Technology Centre in Orbe is the leading Nestlé Coffee, Beverages and Cereals Competence Centre that develops products, production processes and delivery systems for in-home and out-of-home consumption. The coffee department is the center of competence for coffee technology and provides major activities on process and product development, renovation and innovation in all major areas of Nestlé’s coffee.

To complete our Science & technology department based in Orbe, we are currently looking for an Associate Particle physics specialist for soluble/roasted coffee.

Key responsibilities
· Build scientific competence and develop innovative methods related to Roasted coffee bean characterization and Coffee Powder Performance.
· Provide an efficient scientific support to key projects by providing technical expertise on Material Science, in particular particle technology and physical stability
· Apply early management principles for analytical standards e.g. from method design (aligned with business needs) to effective handover to factories.
· Provide accurate and on-time scientific support to operation and help provide effective and sustainable solutions. Give support to customers, assistance in industrialization start-ups, follow-up product launches, including technical and product improvements.
· Coordinate laboratory work of laboratory technicians
· Contribute and propose new innovative processes and activities to NPTC/R&D, Commercial Units and Operations and explore patentable technologies and processes.
· Manage external and internal collaboration with other experts in field Material Science / Particles Technology
Required Profile
· MSc/Engineer degree and/or PhD in food material science / particle / powder technology or related field
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in industrial R&D and project management
· Good knowledge of coffee products and processes
· Acute mindset in translating science and technology into consumer benefits and business winning concepts
· Self-Management following defined KPIs/Objectives, and proactively tracking them
· Analytical thinking and highly developed problem solving mindset
· Good team player
· Master imaging analyses is a plus
· Fluent in English and French. Other languages advantageous
