Scientist

Your Role:

 

At MilliporeSigma this role is in our our Analytical Development group. In your role as a Scientist you will develop and evaluate new potential competitive products, technologies, and experimental plans, in support of marketing campaigns and initiatives. The work is expected to be accomplished in fairly independent manner, with moderate supervision.

 

·  Support experiments with the goal to improve/optimize process reaction conditions, raw material costs and isolated yields. 
·  Utilize analytics and troubleshooting skills within a dynamic process development and chemical manufacturing environment.
·  Interact with other Scientists and Engineers to ensure that a healthy pace of technology advancement in the analytical sciences is maintained.
·  Interpret spectral and other analytical data for structural elucidation and support of interpretation of process outcome
·  Experience with some combination of HPLC, GC, MS, IR, UV-Vis, NMR, IC or other techniques
·  Participate in the development of in-process and/or final product testing in support of the analytical development team
·  Assist analytical development team in establishing specifications for intermediates and final products.

 Physical Attributes
·  Occasionally will wear personal protective equipment such as a respirator or chemical protective clothing for extended periods of time
·  Employee is required to sit, stand, hear, and use hands to operate all office equipment.
·  Employee must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell. 
·  View computer monitors for long periods of time. 
·  Vision requirements are close vision and the ability to adjust focus. 
·  Employee occasionally will be required to lift, generally no more than 25 pounds.

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications: 
·  Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Scientific discipline with 10+ years’ experience in a quality control or analytical laboratory environment OR Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Scientific discipline with 3+ years’ experience in a analytical laboratory environment OR PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Scientific discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
·  2 years’ experience in an industrial process development environment
·  Experience with chemical principles and safe chemical handling.
·  Experience in Electronic Materials or Pharmaceutical Industry
·  Highly proficient in chemistry, math, and general science
·  Knowledge of ISO Quality standards
·  Knowledge of chemical processing techniques and unit operations
·  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·  Knowledge of spectra interpretation and mathematics
·  Experience with some combination of HPLC, GC, MS, IR, UV-Vis, NMR, IC or other techniques
