Job description



The Value Stream Manager leads and develops the Value Stream Organization (230-280 associates) by providing a clear vision, being an inspiring inclusive leader, connected to the business and serve the markets in a customer centric way. This is done through ownership of the P&L, driving Value Leadership programme and by ongoing continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency and productivity to sustain the value stream organization. All of the above should be accomplished through motivating and engaging associates and role modelling the Five Principles. Delivers Strategy and Navigates Complex Challenges

· Value Stream Strategy - Participate with the Factory Director and other support associates in the implementation of improvement strategies that will help their Operations Section perform more effectively in the near term and the future.
· One Supply Strategy – Fully understand MWC EMEA One Supply strategy and 4 Big Rocks ambitions and translate the regional strategy goals into VSM priorities and local goals. Implement required programs and standards improvements to PNS project list and operating plan commitments.

· Associate Development - With the support of Team Leaders, evaluate exempt and non-exempt associate performance. In conjunction with associates' career goals, create development plans to fully unlock their potential.

· Personal Development – Work to actively improve self through challenging personal development plans using Mars Leadership Capabilities framework (MLCs). Actively pursue managerial benchmarking and technical competencies both within and outside Mars.

Leads and Inspires Associates

· Engagement - Work with all Team Leaders to ensure that they are engaging their teams in the appropriate dialogue, action planning and follow through. Review all action plans
· and summaries for all teams including small focus groups. Ongoing communication to the site concerning large engagement initiatives. Engagement scores will be the criteria of choice for assuring consistency from site to site. Own and drive High Performance Collaboration within the direct team.

· Associate Advocacy - Proactively manage associate relations issues and associate safety; guide and direct the hiring, training, retraining, development and motivation of Operations associates following team working principles with a minimum degree of guidance from the Factory Director. Drive Associate engagement through a foundation of teamwork and involvement.

· Communications - Ensure that open communications are established and that opportunities to broaden the scope and responsibility of Operations teams/associates are undertaken. The Value Stream Manager is the key resource to deliver regular business performance updates to the site teams.

Delivers Consistent Results

· Food Safety and Product Quality - Assure the ongoing production of safe and defect free products consistent with the principles of Mars. A proficiency of HACCP is required; this manager owns ongoing training and championing of quality goals and improvements at the area level.

· Conversion - Manage the efforts of production lines across shifts to ensure the efficient conversion of materials into quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary manner within the product design specifications and budgets.

· Scheduling - Production scheduler reports to VSM to ensure right balance between excellent customer service and production efficiency. The objective is to continuously improve scheduling pattern to drive labour productivity as well as MFI.

· MSE – Lead roll out of MSE (Mars Supply Excellence) program in the Value Stream and drive the change in Operations according to MSE standards, act as an AM pillar leader, co-pilot the Leadership pillar and support all MSE pillars deployment in his/her Value Stream. Own FMOS in Operations, set-up and co-create standards, rules and procedures of FMOS, act as FMOS coach.

· Change Agent - Recommend and implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organization, as needed, to assure that the objectives of the area are met. Deliver area requirements by influencing and gaining co-operation from other departments (Engineering, Quality and Food Safety, Commercial and Scheduling/Logistics).

· Goal Setting and Measurement - Through Business Units, establish area performance standards and goals based on site goals and strategies; measure, control, take corrective action and report results as appropriate in all areas of responsibility.

· Technology Advancement - Advise the Factory Director when opportunities exist for moving the area forward in technological change. Partners with Site Technical Manager to recommend improvements, which would result in new and improved equipment and or methods to minimize production costs and improve quality.
