Senior Controls Technician – Reno, NV

The Senior Controls Technician is a member of the site controls team. The Senior Controls Technician role is responsible for: Ensuring safe, reliable performance of plant control processes, systems, and production lines. This associate must be multi-crafted with a heavy emphasis on software, control systems and electrical fundamentals. This associate must have excellent communication skills and be focused on customer (operations) satisfaction. Their work includes on-line troubleshooting, repair, planned work, continuous improvement and capital projects. Their activities are driven by area performance and planned work requests. This associate must be able to independently identify issues and resolve with self-direction. This associate shall have a passion for continued self-development, constantly seeking to upgrade technical skills in order to maintain the highest level of technical ability and knowledge of latest hardware and software trends.

What are we looking for?

·  High school diploma coupled with 3 to 5+ years of maintenance related controls experience at a minimum
OR
An Associate of Applied Science in electrical/electronic or related technical training preferred coupled with 2+ years of experience in a comparable technical position, inclusive of internships/co-ops.
·  Industrial controls training with certificate(s) is preferred.
·  Computer science background / education would be a plus
·  Ability to troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs & the ability to write new PLC code and edit existing code
·  Experience with HMI software and virtual PC environments
·  Experience with servo drives, VFDs, instrumentation, motors and motor control circuits
·  Knowledge with industrial control networks including ethernet routers, switches and configuration would be a plus
·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

What would be your key responsibilities?

·  Provide controls expertise on a night shift basis as an integral part of a specific team
·  Provide on – shift plant wide support (including overtime coverage for vacancies) for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolution of PLCs, servos and HMIs
·  Support the operations team with day to day improvements and troubleshooting of software applications / PLC controls with maximum focus on safety and increased reliability
·  Implement improvement projects including controls system and applications
·  Interface with contractors, vendors, engineering, maintenance and operations
·  Perform root cause analysis on process interruptions
