Salary: £26,000 – 33,000

There is an exciting opportunity to join the site R&D team in Kings Lynn within the Quality & Food Safety function as the Site Sterilisation Expert.

The purpose of this role is implement and maintain thermal processes and procedures at the manufacturing site in order to achieve, maintain and audit compliance to Mars Standards and relevant Governance and Regulations regarding thermal processing of shelf stable foods.

What are we looking for?

·  Technical degree in Science, (Mechanical, Chemical, Food Engineering / Science) or adjacent technological studies (i.e. Microbiology) is preferable
·  Experience with thermally processed products
·  Successfully attended an external thermal processing training programs e.g. as offered by (Campden, Grocery Manufacture’s Association or Better Process Control School).
·  Ability to work in a manufacturing environment

What would be your key responsibilities?

·  Ensure total compliance of Mars Global and external Quality Standards for thermal processing including specifications & documents.
·  Design and conduct heat penetration tests using Statistical Process Control for critical factors and complete analysis of Heat Penetration data in order to establish a thermal process schedule letter.
·  Conduct Temperature and Heat Distribution Testing by analysing and creating a report of the test situations conducted and impact to the thermal process schedule.
·  Ensure Corrective and Preventative Action’s and Product Related Incidents are assessed for thermal processing related deviations and drive continuous improvement.
·  Maintain deviation tracker to aide in the troubleshooting of retort/control or operator training issues.
