Context:

Every day Mars Incorporated takes thousands of decisions that are informed by laboratory data from sourcing new raw materials to product release. It is essential that Mars Associates have access to laboratory data that is accurate, reliable, relevant and timely to ensure consumer and brand protection, provide competitive advantage and enable operational excellence.

The Mars Petcare Central Laboratory leads the governance of the laboratory function for Mars Petcare Segment, which has over 60 sites around the world. As part of this team, the Physical Measures Project Leader will play a vital role in identifying, developing, and validating new physical methods and deploying them to the network. This is an exciting technical role that will have a direct impact on our operating business, providing both strong technical development and networking across a Global organisation.

 

Missions:

The Physical Measures project leader is responsible for the development, validation, deployment and continuous improvement of physical methods and sampling procedures for raw materials inbound control, in process and finished products control.

Techniques of interest are Infrared Spectroscopy, Raman, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Texture, Viscosity, Colour, Particle Size, Homogeneity, in-process quality attributes control. There is a strong dimension of data handling using statistical tools.

The project leader participates to the administration of a large network of NIR instruments located on the Mars Petcare production sites.

He/she participates to the development, performance monitoring and continuous improvement of quantitative NIR calibrations for nutritional parameters and qualitative NIR calibrations for raw materials fingerprinting using chemometric methods.

He/she works closely with the Petcare Quality &Food Safety business to identify and scope testing needs and builds strong connections to the Petcare segment laboratory network.

 

Profile:

Education & Professional Qualification

PhD degree or Master degree in physical measures, statistical analysis, datamining, PAT, process control in food, pharmaceutical or related disciplines.

Knowledge/Experience

3-5 years of experience and knowledge in physical methods development or process control, with strong knowledge and affinity for statistical analysis or datamining.

Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.

Knowledge of Laboratory QMS is preferred.
