Packaging Technologist
Location: Sochaczew

The purpose of this job is to be the site expert for packaging-related projects and to implement and deliver on a range of packaging development & implementation projects in line with PNE growth and cost optimization strategies. This role is key to create the technical capability to produce pre-made bags as well as empty pouches which are fit for purpose. The job holder supports the requested Q&FS technologist with technical expertise for root cause analysis and implements corrective actions related to technical solution on the bag-making/pouch making equipment.
Key responsibilities:
· Execute and deliver on a range of packaging development & implementation projects that will lead to continuous improvement in product design and performance
· Execute and deliver on projects designed to optimize business costs, while adhering to agreed standards of Quality and Food safety
· Manage site packaging specifications in line with corporate design principles and standards
· Support technical risk assessments on changes to packaging, and ensure that all risks are effectively managed
· Manage the implementation of new packaging on site according to the Mars Packaging Quality Management (PQM) standard using relevant system tools
· Contribute to the definition of minimum standards and critical success factors (CSFs) as part of the Handover 1 and 2 processes for defined packaging implementation projects in collaboration with other site R&D team members, Regional/Global R&D, and local cross-functional teams
· Collate and manage packaging data, ensuring that that our packaging conforms to standards, and that exceptions are effectively escalated and managed
· Work on Level 2 trouble-shooting activities in partnership with other functions to ensure the successful resolution of packaging issues
· Input into local and European Activity Task Groups (ATGs), providing risk assessment and technical support as required
· Actively participate in regional technical communities to promote the effective sharing of knowledge and experience across the PNE network and central teams
· Support and manage projects and activities across functional boundaries as required by the Site R&D manager
Candidate profile:
· Experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment (minimum 3 years)
· Degree level qualification in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (Food Science/Technology, Biological, Chemical, Engineering sciences)
· Good command of English (min. B2)
· Experience in scoping and managing projects in an FMCG environment
· Experience in experimental design and execution
· Direct experience of food packaging design and manufacturing processes
· Knowledge of food packaging substrate functionality
