Job Purpose/Overview

The Logistics and Distribution Manager will be responsible for driving product availability in the Benelux by leading the logistics and distribution activities with a highly engaged and talented team.
Drive an efficient and Customer Centric E2E Supply Chain, through continuous development of processes, wow, tools and people throughout our E2E value chain, from factory to pet owner.
Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders both internal and externally to drive continuous improvement through end to end supply chain planning and best-in class logistics handling

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Benelux Logistic and Supply planning operations.
• Lead the Supply Chain portfolio of projects to increase efficiency, customer service and develop people in line securing that we are moving in the direction of the Supply Chain Strategy and OP plan.
• Owner of all Benelux 3PL (delivery and warehousing) processes and policies.
• Lead tenders for our warehousing and transport activities
• Owner of SMR in the S&OP+ process.
• Setup and lead daily, weekly and periodic reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Build a high-performance team with direct reports to ensure the targets and strategies are achieved.
• Drive the strategic objectives and development in the entire Market Supply Chain areas, monitoring the progress through reports and key performance indicators.
• Securing the optimal service levels for our different segments
• Ensure the optimum level of inventories aligned with the financial objectives of the Group.
• Securing the optimal LCC / ton and that we meet the budget in the most effective way: freight-In, storage and handling for marketing materials and, pallets optimization.
• Securing QFS Royal Canin standards of Distribution and human safety laws are fully respected by the internal organization, as well as by suppliers.
• Owner of product master data.
• Develop strong level of collaboration with European Supply Chain communities.
• Bring expertise to provide sales & marketing teams a functional support to operate specific operations.
• Acting Supply Chain Director in case of absence or vacation.

Context and Scope

A key activity of Royal Canin in the Cluster is the distribution of our premium products, and for this reason the position has a significant impact on the customer service, the budgets and efficiency. The added value of the position is to optimize the costs and the service, ensuring at the same time the compliance with Quality and Safety Standards of the Group and local laws. The Logistics and Distribution Manager must be continuously looking for improvements and profitability, proposing new ways of working.
The Logistics and Distribution Manager must work closely with the 3PL suppliers, customers, factories, regional- and internal teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the current breakdown of logistics costs and the drivers for these costs. The job holder is responsible for the development and delivery of the annual Logistics Controlled Costs (LCC) operating plan for the business unit, supported by the local co-pilot for supply chain. In this position will be necessary lead inventories checks and audits, with the collaboration of the warehouses. It will identify the logistics outsourcing needs and negotiate with the suppliers to get the best solutions.
The position will lead and optimize capabilities, processes and wow within the Supply Planning function with the aim to continuously improve the purchasing accuracy with the overarching goal to secure the best possible customer service.
The job holder should have natural authority as he/she will have to influence people with and without hierarchical relationship. The knowledge of the Supply Chain context to assess about Best Practices as well as the use of tools and processes from this function is key.
The position reports to the Supply Chain Director and has a team of 4 associates:

·  A Supply Planning Manager,
·  two Supply Planners and
·  a Logistics Coordinator.

A significant proportion of the time in this role will be spent on developing and motivating direct reports.

The direct team is based in Veghel. The 3PL’s are located in the Netherlands and Belgium. It is expected to visit these 3PL’s on a monthly basis to build and maintain relationships.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications
• Master Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or similar
• Fluency in English. Dutch and French is a plus

Knowledge / Experience
• Minimum 6+ years’ experience in Logistics and/or Supply planning functions, ideally in a FMCG company.
• Minimum 3+ years' people management experience
• Broad business knowledge with a track record of implementing new processes and driving their continuous improvement
• A well networked manager with a track record of building strong collaborative relationships (internally and externally)
• Cluster logistic market knowledge
• Systems knowledge: advanced skills using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, experience using Navision/1NAV & FuturMaster.
