Job Description

The award-winning Sage Restaurant Group is set to hire an accomplished Senior Restaurant Manager to lead the Mercat a la Planxa, a modern interpretation of timeless Catalan traditions. Mercat offers an authentic dining experience that combines fresh meats and produce with the energetic spirit of a Barcelona market. The interiors boast bright, rich fabrics and weathered mosaic tiles, accented by dynamic sculptural furniture and distinctive art murals. The inspired menu offers diners the chance to experience the rich culture of Barcelona, whether theyre savoring small plates, distinctive steaks, or sampling from Mercats extensive cava, sangria, and wine or bar selections. Mercat a la Planxa combines the best of both the old and new worlds, bringing a Catalan aesthetic to the heart of Chicago.

This role will report to the General Manager of Food and Beverage as well as partnering with a collaborative leadership team that takes pride in excellence and is a great steward of its properties. You will oversee the entire food and beverage operations of all outlets on property including the renowned Mercat a la Planxa and a vibrant Market that is soon to come.

Your success will be measured by your ability to:

·  Achieve both revenue and profit budgets
·  Improve all sources of guest satisfaction
·  Develop internal talent into next Sage Restaurant Group leaders
·  Establish outstanding relationships within the thriving Chicago community
·  The ideal candidate has a background in high volume independent restaurants or hotels, strong business acumen, and proven track record of developing marketing techniques to develop strategies that drive scalable business. Bachelor degree is highly preferred.
Posting Overview:


Plan and manage the restaurant, room service and other food and beverage outlets as appropriate in order to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with corporate/franchise policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations while meeting/exceeding financial goals.

Knowledge/Skills

·  Requires thorough knowledge of the restaurant/hotel practices and procedures in order to perform non-repetitive analytical work. May require knowledge of policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.
·  Supervision/management communication skills are required.
·  Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
·  Ability to make occasional decisions which are generally guided by established policy and procedures.
·  Excellent comprehension for assisting with guest and associate matters. Interpreting instructions from superiors.
·  Excellent vision required for seating guests, expediting food, cleaning equipment, reading floor plans, charts, schedules.
·  Must have excellent oral communication for communicating with guests and associates, issuing instructions and communicating policies.
·  Excellent comprehension required to read and implement policies and procedures; writing schedules and reading forecast and SOPs.
·  Must have knowledge of chemicals/agents for training purposes.
Education/Formal Training

·  More than two years of post high school education.
Experience
