JOB FUNCTION
The purpose of this position is to observe, learn, gather data and information, conduct analysis and fact-finding in order to bring forward ideas for improvement. This position will also provide support to the Supply Chain Planning and Operations teams to increase the capacity of the service and execution team.
Job description
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES / DUTIES
The Supply Chain Intern may assist in a number of project and/or operations support roles in the Supply Chain department. Assignments may include work such as:
• Demand Planning
o Collection and analysis of information related to sales, promotional activity, and forward distribution inventory levels. Evaluate forecast accuracy and identify areas of opportunity to improve individual item and/or product family forecasts.
• Supply Planning
o Evaluate forward-looking supply positions to identify potential shortages and recovery timing.
o Conduct sales volume and lead time analysis and make recommendations for process or tool improvement.
o Assist and execute daily activities in support of Supply Chain Planners.
• Warehouse Operations
o Conduct analysis on slow moving and obsolete inventory levels across the supply network. Quantify opportunities for improvement in warehouse space utilization.
o Research current state for Recontrol sampling/testing and determine necessary adjustments to ensure quality is up-to-date for shipping.
Specific project and operational roles will be identified 30-60 days prior to the start of the internship, based on business need and intern interests.
Profile
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have or be pursuing a four-year undergraduate or graduate degree or at an institution with an accredited program in Business Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of opportunity and take action. A high level of competence in computer applications and the ability to use technology as a decision-support tool is required. As part of a team, this person must have the ability to coordinate across multiple activities and individuals to ensure collaboration in problem-solving, decision making, and action planning. In this role, the candidate must have the ability to identify and evaluate tactical methods to achieve objectives, identify deviations from the plan, and facilitate resolution. As confidential information may be required in this role, he/she must use discretion within and external to the organization.
