PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To perform tasks and may operate equipment for harvest, receiving, milling, treating, packaging and shipping of product in an efficient and timely manner.

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Work in a safe manner. Work with various tasks processing seed, setting up equipment and ensuring a quality product. Depending on time of year may work in different departments as needed. Ensuring finished product from department meets HM standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist in keeping warehouse a clean and safe environment.
• Operating equipment and following processes to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• May be required to work on a computer.
• May be required to drive a forklift.
• Responsible for following all established plant procedures (Safety, Quality, HR, etc.).
• Responsible for product quality assessments and adherence to product specifications.
• Follow safety protocols when working with chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Execute sampling procedures per established requirements to maintain company quality standards.
• Will be working in a team environment but must be able to work individually as well.
• Maintain integrity and accuracy in data entry.

Planning – Organize daily work depending on schedule or priorities directed by supervisor to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Technical Skills – Basic math skills, forklift operation may be required, basic PC skills. Chemical applicators certificate may be required or ability to obtain within 8 months of hire date. Ability to read, write and speak English Language.

Interpersonal Skills – Good communication skills required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and ability to give clear oral and written instructions.

Teamwork – Can work in a cooperative team environment with employees from varying backgrounds and experience.

Judgment – Sound judgment and integrity. Takes responsibility for actions and decisions made.

Professionalism – Ability to be respectful and courteous to others.

Performance – Perform each task with accuracy and speed, while maintaining and practicing proper safety procedures.

SKILLS:

• Operating Equipment – Set up equipment and monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Quality Control – Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Initiative – A self-starter with a desire to learn and improve.
• Troubleshooting – Determining causes of operating errors.
• Minor Preventive Maintenance – Servicing machines or systems using the needed tools.
• Problem Solving – Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and solutions.
• Equipment Selection – Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

GENERAL:

• Must be able to be forklift certified.
• Time-pressure and a flexible attitude regarding last minute planning changes.
• Exposure to heat, dust, potential hazardous chemicals, and noise.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and/or overtime as required.
• Ability to obtain pesticide application certificate.
• Ability to work with various types of machinery.
• Ability to multitask as needed
Education / Experience:
• GED, High School Diploma, or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years' experience in processing and/or agricultural operations beneficial.
